After some time loitering without tent to make coffee and eat biscuits. I have returned to loitering within tent. Gonna let myself have half an hour to relax then get on the bike and go find some single track... With my slick tyres...

Making coffee and also testing my new cookset. Seems to work well, but the handles get hot. Stove does boil nice and fast tho.

It's gone 1pm and I'm still loitering within tent. I've had a bit of a nap. And generally relaxed. J need to venture out of my warm comfy spot soon tho as I need some breakfast. Have to keep reminding myself I'm on holiday. It's ok to rest, to relax, to not be racing around.

Today's plan is a ~50k ride. With quite a bit of off-road. Am struggling somewhat with motivation. My sleep mat is comfy, and I'm enk listening to the birds and the wind in the trees. Also that wind is gonna make for hard riding

Welcome to the #CrossBorderRail Day 05 thread

Today I'm taking 2 trains (137km total) and there is one bike leg to all three border lines (34km)

I've brought my departure from Enschede forward an hour - so as to avoid rain later on the bike

I'll cross these borders:
🚲 Barlo (DE) – Winterswijk (NL) – dismantled line
🚲 Bocholt (DE) – Aalten (NL) – dismantled 750mm gauge tramway
🚲 Borken-Burlo (DE) – Winterswijk (NL) – dismantled line

The rain has arrived. The wind has picked up quite a bit and is making a great sound through the hedge and trees. There's some sheep nearby who are bleating about something, I'm not sure what.

The wind today is from a different direction to yesterday, meaning my tent orientation is not as optimal as it was. On the plus side the stronger wind should reduce condensation. Time to curl up and listen to the sound of rain on sil nylon.

Campsite WiFi gets me a whopping ~13Mbps. 4G gets me a massive 5Mbps.

That explains why streaming is not happening.

Back at camp. All showered and in fresh clothes. Sky has got ominously dark. I'm expecting rain during the night. So no kit washed tonight as it won't dry, and slightly smelly kit is better than wet kit.
