Won’t happen. Don’t get your hopes up. Starmer is ride or die in his support of Zionism and subsequently the genocide of the Palestinian people. In fact I’d go one step further and say, if you look at his record, he clearly doesn’t give a fuck about anyone with darker skin than himself.

Isn’t ML running 0.19.4? Test it for us 😏

I guess the conversation I would like to have is, are we ready? Do you think we have had advancements withheld and held back and is the economy more important than the planet? Personally I feel like everything comes back to monetary wealth getting in the way of global happiness. Star Trek really got that right.

Wow. This is actually really touching. Shout-out to them. I’m so glad I installed this.

Your thinking is constrained by what you’re accustomed to. The reality is that as time goes on, more and more jobs are going to become obsolete but we’ll continue to need teachers, doctors and nurses. Without them, either we die or society dies. If you closed the tax loopholes, you could easily pay for doctors, nurses and teachers without an issue.

But the reality is we need to pay for more than just them because more and more jobs will cease to exist, so in the long-term, we need to end monetary wealth as a concept.

How would you go about it? Shorter teaching days? Shorter teaching weeks? Half the load (so double the teachers)? Something I haven’t thought of?

So then we’re back to making the occupation an attractive one and quality of life is a massive part of that. Nobody will want to teach if it means they have to struggle to pay their bills.

Is there a YouTube video under 10 minutes that compares the different AI models available from DuckDuckGo?

I hear you but I feel you’re being unfair and yet I can’t articulate how. Obviously Tesla are culpable for whom they purchase from, but we need governments to lay the foundation to make clean profitable. To put that in grocery terms, companies that make (sell) proprietary GMO products should pay more in tax than analogous organic products.

Edit: really good post BTW. I appreciate the effort that went into it.

I actually agree with you. But, take a step back and join me in my utopia dreamland, where politicians are accountable to their constituents. I think in that world, governments absolutely have a responsibility to pass legislation that benefits everyone in the long-term, but just corporations.

I’m not suggesting that we as individuals and certainly not corporations are absolved of responsibility, but I am saying that just like tax loopholes, while there’s room for people to not do the right thing, they absolutely will go for the cheapest wrong thing they can find.

What is it or why am I looking for an alternative?

I’m a big fan of tools made for purpose. Lemmy has some fantastic features and continues to improve, but it was never designed as a blogging platform. Even when I duplicate self text posts, it doesn’t merge. In the timeline. I like Lemmy and want to see it succeed. Though that’s not easy with the ML administration team going rogue or the overt centralization fostered on world, but neither of those are software issues.

No worries. I appreciate the thought. Thanks for trying to help.

I hear all this talk about WordPress, but at the same time, they’re selling users’ content to AI, so I don’t want to continue to use them.
