SMB, FTP, or NFS for NAS + server?

I am running a NAS that needs to connect to a server (the NAS isn’t powerful enough). I also need to connect my NAS to a Windows, Mac, and Linux device (Linux being the most important, then Mac, then Windows). Out of SMB, FTP, and NFS, which one would be the best, quickest, and most secure for my situation? My NAS supports...

warmaster,

This. For all we know, the app could be doing all kinds of nefarious things and we wouldn’t be able to tell.

warmaster,

Flash a USB, install the same way you did before: by using the whole disk and thus erasing whatever was in it before.

Have fun! Bazzite is probably the best gaming distro out there.

warmaster,

It’s the BS he needs to feed shareholders. I don’t think he even believes that to begin with.

warmaster,

How is print books dead ?

statista.com/…/e-book-and-printed-book-penetratio…

And that’s only units, in terms of revenue, ebooks is still pocket change in comparison.

warmaster,

What other long-form text format has beaten print books ?

warmaster,

I am trying to understand what’s the argument behind your statement. I mean, there are more books being published than ever and there are more readers than ever. So, I fail to imagine how are books dead. That’s why I am asking these questions.

warmaster,

YouTube is video, it replaced TV. Podcasts and music streaming replaced the radio. Why should I compare books to another medium? In fact, back in the TV and radio era, more people consumed thant kimd of media instead of books, and that stays true today, yes. More people watch youtube than read books. I bet more people play games than read a book. But it’s comparing different kinds of media. It would be like saying podcasts are dead because more people consume pictures and video on instagram.

warmaster,

About Steve considering Linux? Or Linus considering Linux? I doubt abojt the latter given his past experiences 🤣

warmaster,

Which wouldn’t be the case if it wasn’t for Davinci Resolve, otherwise these guys would never switch.

Finally an alternative to Big Tech, your new open-source mobile ecosystem (f-droid.org)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to engage in a mobile ecosystem outside of the watchful eye of the Big Tech giants and gatekeepers? A system that includes everything from operating systems, to app stores, to cloud services, messaging apps, email servers and more? A system that puts your privacy first, believes in a...

Fuck Android, I want Linux on my smartphone. With working alternatives for:

  • Banking apps
  • Google Pay
  • Google Maps (live traffic)
  • Android Auto
  • Google Cast

Only the EU can pull this off.

Edit: added banks.

warmaster,

Not if it’s done with the EU backing

warmaster,

It’s not happening, ever. But hey, dreaming is free.

warmaster,

Open Source is democratic through natural selection.

warmaster,

Projects that have a big community tend to last longer. If the project does things that alienate the users, the community shrinks, thus endangering the prohect’s future. The community can mean desktop users or businesses, doesn’t matter. My point is, users have a saying, wether devs like it or not.
