Bug in Stremio? Missing episodes and no streams found

I’m loving Stremio so far, but having bad luck with the TV show Only Murders in the Building. It’s a fairly recent show. However, it doesn’t show any episode information for season one and two on Android. On Google TV it does show the episodes but getting No Streams Found for every episode. I could easily found it on...

whiskers,

I see episodes for all seasons on Streamio Android. For season 1 and 2, there are no streams though

whiskers,

Love it. Question: Does Photon not support opening communities link within the web app? When I click on the Photon community link in the post, it takes me to the instance lemmy.xylight.dev page

whiskers,

Off topic question, I’m trying to learn about seedboxes: Do you have to configure your own VPN with your current seed box or is it not necessary?

whiskers,

It doesn’t support Android Auto, right? That’s what’s holding me back from installing it.

Why does it seem different platforms of the fediverse are not so good at communicating with each other? Is this something that will eventually improve?

I have an account on kbin. Recently I saw a post across my feed in which a magazine that I follow (that's based on a Lemmy instance) was celebrating over 1k subscribers. When I visited, I saw only 240 or so....

whiskers,

I share your experience but unfortunately don’t have answers

whiskers,

I was facing issues with lemmy.world too, now seems to be okay

whiskers,

A Lemmy instance definitely saves that data as an instance admin can access it through the DB. Not sure if this is exposed via API

whiskers,

Love it, as my feed can get fresh items when I check Lemmy frequently.

However, I have noticed that once a post is hidden there’s no way to get it to be displayed back on the app. The “hide read” functionality hid this post once it was read but to give this feedback I had to go to your profile @aeharding and find the post again. Am I missing something?

whiskers,

Thanks for the reply!

I had actually given it a try. For some reason, I don’t see this post in the “hidden posts” section in my profile.

whiskers, (edited )

Strange! To give you more info, I’ve tried this on both Chrome and Firefox on Android.

Here’s a screenshot of my “hidden posts” section: ibb.co/93F95h9

This post is also not visible in the voyager community: ibb.co/XyrWdM3 (sorted by new)

Thanks a bunch for all your work!

Edit: I just scrolled through my Home feed and since I have activated “Mark read on scrolling”, after tapping “hide post”, it hid those 4-5 posts and they all show up in my profile “hidden posts” section. But this post still doesn’t show either in voyager community or in “hidden posts”

Streamio with Torrentio add on + a Debrid service is all you need.

whiskers,

What additional addon does Pimp My Streamio provide? I couldn’t find a list of their addons. Is it worth the hassle as I only use Streamio on Android.

YSK: The Fediverse is a privacy nightmare (blog.bloonface.com)

TLDR: While Fediverse won’t directly serve you ads, anonymous bad actors other than Meta can save, redistribute, and even dox you for any information you post here. Anything you post here can/will remain forever on some malicious instance that doesn’t honor deletion requests. So be careful!

whiskers,

Ofcourse, you can dox yourself in other text based sites like Twitter, Reddit.

But, ActivityPub has other applications like PixelFed. If someone doesn’t know about these privacy implications there private pictures can be exposed to even malicious accounts/instances that are not on theit followers list. It’s best for everyone to be aware of what they are getting into here.

whiskers,

There are laws that you can enforce by suing them. It’s probably not going to be the case here

whiskers,

Yes, but there is a reasonable assumption that your pictures will only be viewed by your followers on Instagram. I can’t see myself switching to PixelFed. I’ve completely switched from Reddit and Twitter to Mastodon, Lemmy, as I don’t tend to share my personal information there anyways.

whiskers,

It is reasonable because I can have a trust basis with my followers who are my friends/family. If a malicious instance host can just use a plugin to view follower only post, that’s not going to be expected by an average user. That’s why I posted in YSK.

whiskers,

Yep, I just wish atleast the major instances outline this clearly to the users. Fediverse definitely has its merits that outweigh these pitfalls. Everyone should still be aware of this in as transparent way as possible

whiskers,

Are there any major daily driver features from Android missing here? Also are the updates usually stable?

whiskers,

Why would the app installation be slow? Do they create sandbox for each app?

whiskers,

The article was a nice read. I’m surprised that there is either no awareness or discussion in the privacy conscious tech crowd over here on the lack of privacy from anonymous bad actors. Everyone seems to only care about Meta, who are bad, but the most they will do with our data is advertise to us. The other bad actors enabled by ActivityPub can actually doxx, redistribute, save our posts, messages.

whiskers,

I wasn’t aware of PGP, thanks for that info!

Do People in Third World Countries Have Stronger Immune Systems Than People in First World Countries?

There have been reports of YouTubers I watch getting sick after eating food in third world countries. However, these countries are also home to a large number of people who do not get sick from eating the same food. I think this suggests that the locals may have developed stronger immune systems. What do you think?

whiskers,

It’s usually the water that makes people sick. When people from third world countries move to first world countries and live there for a couple of years, they will get sick too when they revisit their home country.

whiskers,

I understand that encryption will not be present but the software should atleast not allow the admins to view the private pictures or messages by default as part of admin tools.

I wouldn’t use this until I’m assured of that as posting pictures can lead to being doxxed or they can be found in some unpleasant places on the internet if the admin is not trustworthy
