Hi, I'm Leafy and I'm a recovering reddit addict.

I did post to m/fountainpens precisely because it was there, so it kind of is a bit of a "build and hope they come" situation. I just wish these people would just bother to actually build the community. A welcome post. Some articles. Anything!

I remember reading years ago that a lot of queer seniors were being forced to go back into the closet if they wanted to receive care. So it was a joy to read in this article that there was a queer friendly nursing home.

Times are tough lately, but it is so good to see how we still persist.

/kbin - a few quick announcements

Good morning! :) Today I want to focus mainly on reviewing the pull requests you've submitted. There are many great things there that will help improve the kbin experience. That's amazing, thank you! I'm also in the final stages of sorting out the infrastructure-related formalities. Soon, the situation with the website's...

Thanks for keeping us updated, I really appreciate your clear communication on the matter. Please take as much time as you need, I know it must not be easy to deal with such a sudden influx of users. Rooting for you!

Old Money by Lana Del Rey. The chorus won't leave my head.

Pelikan Jazz = 5 EUR too much, Daughter's Happiness = Priceless.

I like vintage pens, the Hero 331 I'm using now is from the 80s and writes like a dream. I'd be interested if you posted a picture here when you're done cleaning your pens.

Oxblood is such an iconic colour, but I'm amazed at what a beautiful purple Bilberries is.

How do the Jinhaos write? I've heard good things about them but haven't bought any.

Good to know! Twist caps are so unintuitive to me and I always end up fruitlessly pulling for a second because of that.

@toga I need pics, stat! To drool over. Or maybe I'll make a new thread about favourite pens to make it easier for you.

No, but seriously let's get some life into this magazine. Show off your collection with pride!

Outside of this, do you use anything that could be considered social media?

I originally had signed up for a few social media platforms in their early days but over time I felt that I wasn't seeing what I thought I wanted to see. As companies started tailoring their algorithms things started to get less relevant to my interests. As a result I left behind those platforms for a couple of years before...

Yeah, Tumblr is pretty much unusable without xkit blocking every ad and adding necessary tools.

So... will I get swatted if I use plex/jellyfin?

I recently got a 4k TV and so I'm really wanting to watch movies in 4k. They take up so much space that I can't really put them on a flashdrive to watch, and as there aren't any piracy streaming sites with 4k content I was thinking about using an old PC to make a media server on either plex or jellyfin....

Why would you when it stays on your own network? It's for private use.

Nana and Fullmetal Alchemist 03. Something about bittersweet stories where people persevere despite terrible circumstances and shitty endings really gives me hope to continue on for some reason.

It really is so slept on. There are parts of both adaptations I enjoy, but the bit at the end of 03 about "Earth turns on a tilted axis, just doing the best it can" always comforts me.

Also the stellar Yutaka Nakamura fight scenes. I love that they're more grounded here, like his Cowboy Bebop work, than his later more flashy work in My Hero Academia.

I'm watching Galavant right now and I'm enjoying it! A see for those who enjoy musical comedies.

Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold, with Barrayar as my absolute favourite book in the series. I love the mix of historical with scifi and the way it explores issues of reproduction and disability while having very fun, whacky hijinks.
