Where I live nextdoor is a SM shitshow nothing but Whining astroturfing illiterates
If Facebook was
“people you know talking and things you don’t care about”
And Reddit was
“people you don’t know talking about things you care about”
Then nextdoor is
“people you don’t care about talking about crap you don’t care about
I literally (back in the day ) would field calls to our support line
“The message says press any key to continue, and this keyboard doesn’t have an ‘any’ key”
Back in the days of dial up (1993ish) , I was an active aol user. My PC HDD crashed and I was saving $ for a new one. After about 6 days I was going nuts with no pc, so I made up a story that I needed a laptop for a service call I was doing in the morning (not unusual in our business of telephone systems repair)
Apollo WAS Reddit for me. Saying goodbye to both was bittersweet and like losing a dear friend, but life goes on, and the only thing constant is change.
Time to move on. There is no drop in replacement for Reddit and there never will be, IMO, and whatever springs up will have many rough edges for a good long time.
