At the start of the season, I was torn between following the Rangers or the Rays. I stuck with the Rays only to be disappointed once again while the Rangers accomplished this feat seemingly against all odds. I am happy any way that we can now forget about 2011. Chris Young, Bruce Bochy and the whole team did a magnificent job, a well-deserved title.

Yeah alright, a three year old already knows to hate. Yeah.

They are brothers aren't they? Maybe it was more like: let's try some bands and see who we can copy the best?

This is a very good but very long joke I found on this site:

Heavy metal music video
A horse is watching a heavy metal music video, and the guitarist plays an amazing solo. The horse says "that looks amazing, I want to do that!"
The horse goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play guitar." Says the horse.
"Sure," says the man on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."
"There's just one problem," says the horse. "I'm a horse."
"Not to worry," the man says. "We have new state of the art technology to teach horses. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."
Sure enough, the horse gets really good at the guitar and he can play that amazing solo. He wants to show his friends, so he picks up the phone and calls chicken.
"Hey Chicken, come over!" he says. Chicken comes over, watches horse play the guitar and thinks it's pretty cool. Chicken watches the music video and says "hey, that drum part is pretty cool, I want to learn to play that."
Chicken goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play the drums." Says the chicken.
"Sure," says the man on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."
"There's just one problem," says the chicken. "I'm a chicken."
"Not to worry," the man says. "We have new state of the art technology to teach chickens. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."
Sure enough, the chicken gets really good and begins to jam with the horse. Eventually, they think that something's missing. They watch the video again and realize they need a bass guitarist. They call their friend Cow and show them what they've been up to. Cow thinks it's pretty cool, and wants to learn how to play the bass guitar.
Cow goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play bass guitar." Says the cow.
"Sure," says the man on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."
"There's just one problem," says the cow. "I'm a cow."
"Not to worry," the man says. "We have new state of the art technology to teach cows. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."
Sure enough, the cow gets really good at the bass and the animals have a nice band going.
One day, while they're practicing, a man walks by and hears them. He goes up to the animals and says "hey, you guys are pretty good! I'm from a record label, I'd like to sign you!"
The band records an album, puts out some singles and becomes a massive success. They go on a worldwide tour and make tons of money. Right before the last show of the tour, which is supposed to be in Vegas, Horse gets a call. His mother is in hospital.
Horse goes to visit her before the show while the rest of the band goes to Vegas to set up. It turns out that she's all good, it's just a cold. As horse is leaving the hospital, he gets another call. The private jet that was carrying the band and their producer crashed into the ocean, and there were no survivors.
Horse is devastated. All of his best friends are dead, he's out of a job and he's stuck with nowhere to go. He breaks down in tears and decides he'll drink himself to death.
So the horse walks into a bar.
The bartender asks, "why the long face?"

9-1 after 5 innings. I feel for the starting pitcher.

Ratatat and Boxxie. Trolls! Trolls! I don't even know the title of the song.

Rolling Stone co-founder Jann Wenner removed from Rock Hall leadership after controversial comments (apnews.com)

NEW YORK (AP) — Jann Wenner, who co-founded Rolling Stone magazine and also was a co-founder of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has been removed from the hall’s board of directors after making comments that were seen as disparaging toward Black and female musicians. He apologized within hours.

Well, he didn't certainly articulate at a very high level there.

WOO GOD DAMN. Who pays all those musicians? 😁

Scene_Shifter,

This is always a difficult question. I could give you a different answer from one day to the next. So, for today, it will be:

  • Ian Gillan
  • Steve Howe
  • Geezer Butler
  • Ginger Baker (notice GB in my rhythm section)
  • Tony Banks

A few years ago, when I still visited tumblr, I found someone who claimed he had met Joan in the late 70s, and that she had written that song about him. Of course everybody called BS on him.

The purpose, wrote a fan of Bertillon’s, is “to give each human being an identity, an individuality, certain, durable, invariable, always recognisable”. That, at least, Mr Trump can already claim to have achieved.

To appear as an entitled child who has just been told to go to his room, boiling inside and swearing vengeance against those who did him wrong. That's his identity, that's how we recognize him.

Very haunting. My local radio station used to play it late at night, I was a teenager and it captured my imagination like few songs can.

KUNV The Rebel used to be such a great station. I really don't know what it's like nowadays.

Did anyone try to return to reddit and notice it just didn't do it for you anymore?

So I’ve switched to lemmy since the reddit meltdown started, experienced quite some withdrawal symptoms, occasionally turned back to reddit, more often logged out than logged in. Now I am merely using Lemmy occasionally and by far not as often as I used reddit before. No more doom scrolling....

I check it frequently but I only check my fave music subs, and even so I don't watch/listen to everything posted there. For me, the main difference has been the heaven sent lack of engagement on mostly trivial topics that seem to appear every single day on the rest of the subs I used to follow.

I mean, who comes up with such idea for an album cover?

Scene_Shifter,
Scene_Shifter avatar

Highway Star by Deep Purple
Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival

But the best opening track Ever, IMO, has to be A Hard Day's Night.

Hello again. Without looking too deep into it, these albums come to mind:
Aimee Mann - Lost in Space
Neil Finn - Try Whistling This
David Gray - A New Day at Midnight.

Aaah yeah, Super Group ASIA. This one came out when I was just starting to get into Progressive Rock. I was already familiar with Steve Howe's work with YES, and from there I discovered King Crimson and EL&P, music that's still with me after all these years.

The Crane wives Counting sheep (sh.itjust.works)

do you like folk music? its a band based in grand rapids Michigan and ive been listening to them since high school and is one of my favorite bands because they give so much variety and the messages of the music about self care (specifically Hard sell) . anyway heres a link for on of the songs...

Yeah a good friend of mine shared that album recently with me and I've been enjoying it very much.

During most of that time MLB didn't use the technology that allows them to realize when a call is wrong.

Scene_Shifter,

Colour my world by Chicago
You're my best friend by Queen.
Keep on loving you by REO Speedwagon

Scene_Shifter,
Scene_Shifter avatar

I mean, really, MLB is doing everything in their power to stop me from watching any game at all. The clock rules made the game more dynamic and enjoyable, but nonsense like this is unacceptable. This is not the first instance during the season.

Scene_Shifter,
Scene_Shifter avatar

I think Brady Singer is a very good pitcher. He's flying under the radar of all MLB teams.
