Just like the discourse to sanitise pride so it's family friendly, all this is about is trying to make their platforms "family friendly" to attract advertisers and that's it.
Good news for socialists, I'm an environmental science (and a communist) and throughout all the science I've read and studied on this topic is that degrowth and moving away from our current system is literally talked about a lot. Although they don't specifically say socialism they say things like "global food trade needs to become decentralised and community based".
It's simple there is no reason to work and there's enough of us to say "fuck it" and march to change our system but none of us can organise a piss up in a brewery to save our lives.
We have working class people on their knees to the capitalists saying "yes master anything master"
We have socialists who prefer to talk about socialist philosophy instead of action, we have socialists who want bottom up socialism and others who want top down socialism
We have other people on the left that wants to keep the abusive system in place and we have the rest of the working class who don't care about anything.
I study environmental science and I can believe it, every model I've used all the sources I've used that predict have been conservative in numbers compared to what's going on.
The problem is we are never going to do what needs to be done because capitalism is the literal cause and the world is addicted to capitalism because none of the companies are going to do what they need to do unless it's profitable.
Someone decided that 3:30am would be a good idea to do some DIY so I got woken up by hammering, drills and other power tool use from a street over to mine.
I'm iffy about Lenin too. Marx and Engels wrote about bottom up socialism but Lenin came along and basically said the working class is too stupid for a socialist revolution and opted for top down socialism which led to authoritarian socialism and state capitalism.
Our neolib capitalist society is top down governance which is why I highly oppose everything that isn't bottom up socialism
I'm not sure, I like to think of myself as an abolitionist but the more I think about it the more I can't make my mind up.
I think a socialist society is going to need some form of police or a rapid response service like firefighting, and ambulance to get to emergencies but I don't think this service needs to be wandering the streets like the police does today and also removing what they do to only dealing with violent crimes like someone getting attacked for example everything else they do should be its own service like a mental health response team, a road accident response team etc
Ideally most crime should be "solved" because everyone would and should have all their needs met and a similar start in life with the same opportunities without worrying about if you can afford it or not.
