We live during a critical point in history, and I am determined to laugh at it

I'm just wrapping my head around it myself.

From what I got Kbin is an instance of Lemmy and Lemmy part of the Fediverse. The Fediverce is made up of a bunch of different types of social platforms.

eg:
Microblogging: Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey
Blogging: Write.as, Read.as
Video hosting: Peertube
Audio hosting: Funkwhale
Image hosting: Pixelfed
Link aggregator: Lemmy

Instances are those platforms being hosted by a user. It's like their own personal reddit. They get to make their own rules and stuff. The cool thing is all the instances can talk to each other. And you can choose to communicate the other instances.

There's more to it but I don't really understand everything.

Knowledge tells us tomatoes a fruit. Wisdom tells us not to put them in a fruit salad.

I'll bet if they could figure out how to make money from it they would be fine with it.

It sucks. I know it's not the only reason we're in this mess but I think it would give us a big break is we banned Airbnb.

  • Airbnb hosts with over 100,500 listings in Canada.
  • Only 17% of total Airbnb revenues in Canada is generated by true home sharing, where the owner is present during the guest’s stay. This means that in 2016/17, entire-home rentals comprised 83% of total Airbnb revenues in Canada.
  • Approximately 7-in-every-10 units on the Airbnb distribution platform are entire-home rentals, with guests having complete and sole access of the entire unit during their stay.
  • 1 in every 3 units in Canada is rented out for more than 90 days per year and generates 71% of total Airbnb revenues in the past 12-month period.

That's a lot of empty homes.

I'm 49 and I've been driving since I was 16. I'm done with cars. I live downtown and bike or subway everywhere I can. My car is 14 years old and I fill up the tank every couple months. it's a way better way to live.

  • Develop good habits. ie: Take care of your body (especially your teeth) and saving money (even a little to keep up the habit).
  • Stay in touch with friends even if you rarely see them.
  • Have fun.
  • Go backpacking in another country.
  • Don't let shitty people ruin a good time. Remember, if you're in a shitty place with shitty people you can always leave.
  • You might not be the best but you can always be the best YOU. Focus on that.
  • Find a partner that has the same goals as you.

Hilarious. This needs to be bumper stickers.

Everyone does it different in my house so once a week I redistribute the paste in the tube so it's all at the top. It's very satisfying to do and I feel like I have all the power when it's all said and done.

Anyone else a little disappointed how the blackout is going?

I mean don't get me wrong, its cool a lot of subs have and still are participating in the blackout, but I think it wouldve been better to link a new home for the subreddits participating somewhere in the private message. Show spez, hey if you dont change, we aren't going to use your site (or use it less).

I don't care. I'm very happy to have discovered kbin et al. So much room for activities!

I went new but it's an old handle. I missed it.

It's going to get worse before it gets better. $1600 is my mortgage payments for a 2000sq 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment right downtown. If I was greedy I could rent it out for triple that. That's fucked up. It's not supposed to be like that. I can see how a lot of people are taking advantage and creating a huge wealth gap. Fuck greed.

Downtown Montreal.

I spent a couple days for work and I was very please at the vibe. Everyone was very hospitable and kind. Good looking peeps too! ...but as a lefty Montrealer, I didn't bring up politics.
