I didn't mean to imply it wasn't active. I'm happy with the activity so far, mostly. My top requests would be comment collapsing and linking to specific comments with context.
Would have to be on the beefier end of synology boxes, in my experience my 220+ has not been great for 4k. Perfectly fine for less than that though. So maybe you wouldn't have to step up much.
I keep thinking this would have been a much better sell to devs and to users. I have always used Sync, and Boost. I tried the official app a few times, but really only used it for the chat feature. I didn't want to pay for it, but (I am embarrassed to admit it) I would pay premium to keep my app. I think this would have worked...
Don't be embarrassed about being willing to pay for a service you find worth it. The same people who will chide you for this will turn around and spend their money on something you find dumb. It's your money.
As for the actual prompt, I don't think I would. Primarily for a few reasons. I already pay a few subscriptions and reddit does not provide enough value, for me personally, to overwrite other ones I'm paying for and I'm not interested in adding more. My wife and I also used to browse a lot, so we'd have to pay for two as there's no family plan or a convenient way for us both to benefit, such as yt premium or Netflix would.
I mean this with the utmost respect, but this might not be the platform for you mate. That kinda feels like knowing that you have a gambling addiction and going to a casino.
Again with due respect that's a big 180 from how you described it in your first post. That doesn't sound like mental illness that just sounds like the human condition.
After dealing with lots of bad PR from terrible decisions, Twitch now has to deal with one of its biggest streamers moving to another platform, Kick, with a deal larger than those of most athletes
YouTube is running an experiment asking some users to disable their ad blockers or pay for a premium subscription, or they will not be allowed to watch videos.
It's definitely an unpopular opinion in many corners of the internet. I don't think I've ever seen as much entitlement as people talking about how they deserve free YT.
I recently was scrolling through my All feed and noticed some NSFW content on lemmynsfw.com. It was blurred but I wasn't expecting it. What do you all think of this? Should we continue to federate with some NSFW instances? I'm personally OK with it as long as the content is blurred unless I click on it but wanted to get your...
Not gonna lie, off topic but this post is a great highlight of my biggest annoyance of this federation stuff.
You say "we" and "you all" in your post but I'm browsing from kbin and had to bother checking wtf "we" meant to see if it even affected me at all. So while I'm not part of the "you all" you address in your post, I'm here.
I just thing that people need to be way more mindful of their language to avoid confusion with all the federation stuff.
Careful, lots of people take issue with paying for a service these days. /s but only kinda
YT premium has been by far the most worth it subscription for me. I spend a frankly unhealthy amount of YT, even have it running in the background while not watching actively, and I listen to YT music for hours every day. Really easy value sell for me.
But somehow people expect YT to host and deliver literal exabytes of data for free.
I decided to do a bit of a dive into this platform, and while I think it is an interesting idea, I am yet to find a space on Lemmy where I am welcome. I am an artist. I have a Patreon that pays my bills and puts food on the table. Generally, I give the majority of my stuff away for free to the community, but that usually comes...
I just remember playing megaman 1 on NES over and over mostly to listen to the music after you beat the first bosses, i loved the music of that game so much!
Confession time: I am not overly enamored of "rules-lite" RPG systems. As long as the system is coherent and well-thought out, I prefer it when the system has rules for all sorts of things - from tactical combat to running chases to social encounters to falling damage and so forth. I like GURPS, I like D&D5E, I like Pathfinder...

The Steam subreddit has been forced back open.
Looks like Reddit is forcing another sub open, but there are users advocating changing the sub to be about actual steam.
let's cut the "Reddit" circle jerk and start actually making content
Not that it is not interesting but I would like just a tad more variety on the front page....

My 2.5 year old loves watching classic Pokemon. I'll be honest, so do I. But have you tried doing that? It's fucking insane....

EDIT: Maybe a false alert after all, my thread is now visible to all. Still weird that it stayed "deleted" for hours though....
