My reason for moving: When Trump got in, I said to Mr. Laffy, "He'll now have the courts. We can't overcome a lot of that." This is what I was referring to:

@GottaLaff I know, and I feel helpless to effect any sort of change. We're already not commuting, we have a heat pump, and we've dramatically reduced our use if single-use plastics, but our HOA probibits solar panels.

@GottaLaff they are terrific when the weather is mild, above 30°F, but they are inefficient below that. They can't heat the coolant hot enough to keep up in very cold weather.

@GottaLaff you might want to talk with a contractor before you decide. It depends on how much of the heating season your area spends at low temperature. Not all heat pumps are equal either: geothermal vs. the non-geothermal we have.

Mini-splits have become popular in the last several years too.

It definitely saves us money in the spring and fall.
