Oh and also, Dewey, and anyone else who needs to hear this...
Starting HRT is not an irreversible leap off a cliff. If you wanna experiment with hormones for a bit, and decide you don't like them, that's absolutely 100% chill and no trans person that isn't a sucky truscummy piece of shit is going to be mad at you about that.
@salad_bar_breath One caveat: For those going on T, some changes may hit quicker than expected, and quicker than may happen with E. These may seem a bit more irreversible at first glance - e.g. potential change in voice or hair growth - but it's actually also easy to manage the small changes that might come during the first few months on T even if they don't reverse entirely - after all, transfems get hair removed and use their voices to sound fem after years of gonadal T.
Basically: T is made out to be super duper scary, but isn't nearly as dangerous, tainting, or irreversible as people make it out to be either.
@JoscelynTransient yeah of course, but could that data be skewed because trans people who are given T go straight to injections where as trans people who are given E tend to be have endos who like to diddlefuck around with pills and Spiro first?
@salad_bar_breath That's a good point actually. I wonder how it differs for transfems who begin on injections? Mainly wanted to acknowledge transmascs and folks that want to start T can often feel intimidated by it, and there's some realities and some myths around that. But that it's not actually a big irreversible leap to try out either. 💖
