It appears that the Xcode file menu option “Resolve Package Versions” is not the same as "xcodebuild -resolvePackageDependencies”.

I need to be able to “Resolve Package Versions” for all targets in a project via the command line.

Is this even possible? Does anyone know how to do this?

Do you have to invoke xcodebuild -resolvePackageDependencies for every single scheme/target?

Ashsr,
@Ashsr@mastodon.social avatar

@jsq @NeoNacho is that just because Xcode is doing its version of ‘Resolve package dependencies’ automatically on relaunch which it won’t do when you keep it open?

Considering splurging on my first espresso machine to get the fully automatic Jura Z10 that most seem to be getting great reviews. Anyone in here who has experience with it? I trust your people’s opinion much more than I trust the rest of the Internet 😃 https://us.jura.com/en/homeproducts/machines/Z10-Aluminium-White-NAA-15361

@simonbs Go for the Sage and a decent grinder, you won’t regret it and the quality will be much better than an automated machine like this. It’s takes me less than 30 seconds to make a decent coffee each morning and zero mess. You also come to appreciate the manual aspect as it becomes a kind of art you try to improve on, like programming.

Gee Apple’s external distribution notarization process takes a long time, huh 😜 This will be week 3?

@stroughtonsmith it’s like they thought nobody would actually try this given the ridiculous caveats they’d applied to it and now they don’t know what to do.

Making 3D printable stuff is kinda cool, enough people downloaded my Vision Pro stand that I got a $55 gift card, woot. Time to save these up for a printer upgrade

@christianselig what printer do you currently have out of interest and do you recommend it? What would you upgrade to given the option?

@christianselig @Ashsr awesome I’ll take a look thanks 🙏

Hey @charliemchapman I recently switched my paywall to use RC Paywalls which works really well. I read your post about updating Dark Noise and noticed you have a metadata flag that for showing a full screen paywall vs footer.

To fetch this flag I assume you have to fetch the offerings from RC? As I’m using the Paywall functionality I don’t currently fetch these. Are you fetching them on app launch?

Also, really like your animated banner at the top, do you do that in code or use Lottie?

@charliemchapman @Ashsr awesome, thanks for the quick reply and all the useful info you put out around this, saved me a bunch of time (and code) 👍

Building Medium iOS on the M3 Max, cold build. 45 seconds. On M1 Pro it was around 2 minutes.

@dimillian and Intel?

Huh, “Ready for Sale” is now “Ready for Distribution” on App Store Connect.

Ashsr,
@Ashsr@mastodon.social avatar

@simonbs probably since support for third party Apple Stores was added.

I’ve been playing around with a prototype calculator widget for PCalc on iOS 17, and I don’t think - currently - it’s feasible.

It’s a bit sluggish because of the round trip through the AppIntent and re-rendering the widget, for one. But also, if you type too fast, and tap while it’s rendering, it just randomly opens the app.

I’m not sure if that’s a widget bug, or if there’s a way to turn off the opening behaviour, but right now I don’t think I can ship this.

A video of a PCalc calculator widget failing in a variety of ways.

@jamesthomson amazing that we had this years ago, they took it away and then finally gave it back only worse.

Which new API or change to an existing API has you the most excited this year?

Ashsr,
@Ashsr@mastodon.social avatar

@simonbs it’s nice to see everyone get excited about interactive widgets like it’s 2014 again 😅 Wait till they bring Force Touch back with iOS 18.

A while ago I wrote an article about our packages based architecture for the
@medium iOS app, and i'm happy to report that our features package keep growing! Every new thing we write is self contained and this is so good. Time to write a follow up to:

@dimillian my folders in SPM don’t have that little cog icon, is that new?
