Brkdncr,
  • Secure erase using the drive OEMs tool.
  • If you were using something like bitlocker then simply dump the key.
  • Wood chipper or some other form of absolute physical destruction.
Brkdncr,

They are? Support ended and they stopped receiving updates.

Brkdncr,

They dropped support for Exchange server even though the following months a vuln came out. I suspect people are going to be seeing a lot of notices from Microsoft.

Brkdncr,

Yeah I recently purchased a new laptop to replace the one I’ve had for 12 years. Hoping to get another 12 years out of it and I didn’t want to fight the enterprise customers.

Brkdncr,

Did LA to Chicago many years ago in a small bunk sleeper. It was fine.

Did LA to Seattle. Also fine.

Took the ferry to Canada and did via rail to Toronto. So much better than Amtrak. We hung out in the fancy caboose car/bar.

Brkdncr,

It’s not a big shift. Just move the start menu to the left and make their account a normal user account while yours is an admin.

Help clean up their pinned start menu items.

That’s all they need.

Brkdncr,

How to you syslog or net flow to identify malicious actions if you’re not logging?

Brkdncr,

Modern cruise control makes it much less taxing to drive. You can focus only the necessities while leaving things like lane centering and maintaining a proper distance up to the ecu.

Tesla fsd is really just advanced cruise control. The problem is you can’t program out the idiots, and Tesla’s fsd should be considered advanced cruise control and not imply that the operator doesn’t need to pay attention.

Brkdncr,

I agree that’s is marketed as fully autonomous and it shouldn’t be. I think the states dmv should have stepped in and not allowed a vehicle to be registered as anything but having cruise control unless they OK’d it because there are idiots behind the wheel that are simply ignorant of the fact that they are moving multiple tons of mass at speeds that are faster than they can react.

Brkdncr,

I agree. The state should stop allowing new teslas to be registered on their roads until that moniker is corrected. They should prevent advanced cruise control systems from being misleadingly labeled.

Brkdncr,

You can buy like 2-3 for the price of one. If you didn’t need to worry about software issues it would be a good purchase.

If you’re looking for a good chassis and powertrain with no need for anything g else it might make sense.

Do I need a new phone for 2FA? (Tad Long)

So recently my work, a mid sized engineering firm, decided to start upgrading their IT security. The rumor is that we have potential DOD work coming our way. Over the past few months there has been multiple company decided changes to our 2 factor authentication mobile app. I willingly installed the app on my phone over a year...

Brkdncr,

Ask them to reimburse you the cost of a new phone.

Ask them to give you a yubikey or some other OTP token device.

Brkdncr,

As a sysadmin I have so many devs asking me to set up antivirus exceptions for their apps, disable UAC, run the service as full admin, etc

Hell no. Submit your shit to virus total and learn how to program.

Brkdncr,

When apps have code obfuscation in use, injects into dlls, and has detection for when running in a vm when it has no business doing any of these things then yes I think I can complain to the devs about it.

Brkdncr,

I haven’t used a screen protector in years. I don’t keep anything else in my pocket when I have my phone though.

Brkdncr,

I played a game recently where you had drones that could use shafts. It made a lot more sense.

What's a band that has one album that is just about perfect in your opinion, but rest of their discography misses the mark with you?

One of mine is Commit This to Memory by Motion City Soundtrack. I basically took the title verbatim and know the album word for word. And while I would love if it did, the rest of MCS’s stuff just doesn’t hit the same way....

Brkdncr,

LEN - You can’t stop the bumrush

Other than the one pop song that got tons of radio play, it’s a great album. It’s still a great listen.

Every other album or song since then seems to be a weak grasp.

Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stone Temple Pilots both have controversial albums that illicit love or hate from their fans.

kancept, to framework
@kancept@mastodon.social avatar

As much as I love the idea of the @framework laptop, and as much as I want one, I just can't seem to justify it over my current Lenovo T480. Other than a faster/newer processor, I'm not sure that I'd truly get any benefit at this point in time. :sadness:

Brkdncr,

Lenovo t-series is pretty good.

Brkdncr,

I honestly hope not. They should work with the democrats to put a better leader in place that is supported by the right amount of people. There’s no rule that says you have to vote party line.

Brkdncr,

They definitely don’t go through the same amount of QA as other apps.

Brkdncr,

They probably said the same thing about riding horses when cars became popular.

Brkdncr,

Parallels has been in the OSX type2 hypervisor space for a very long time. It’s not free, but if it’s for “work stuff” i’d feel ok with paying for it.

Brkdncr,

Yup. I forgot to add that when debit cards became a thing you basically used them as a 24x7 bank teller, usually only at the bank. Sometimes your bank would have an atm at its own stand at the grocery store.

Oh and the delays at the grocery store because of slow check writing or getting a check OK’d.
