Joe Biden is doing a lot better here than most reporters on 2024 would have you believe.

My poll interpretation now, however, 11 more months to election day, is to focus on what must be done.

Vowing to keep working harder to register, mobilize, and get out the vote. Organization at the grassroots is the key. Mobilizing all voters, including young voters, is key.

College tuition is so high that our young people have to take out student loans that will financially crush them over the course of their life if they want to get an education. But colleges have a spare $75 laying around to buyout losing football coaches. I think we are angry at the wrong people in this country when Americans are hating on students with massive student loan debt.

People who have participated in local school affairs for years have seen what this right-wing group that is masquerading as “for liberty" is really up to and they're not fooled. And they have seen enough, hence the results we saw Tuesday.

Banning books is not "liberty" in any sense of the word nor is trying to erase the existence of LGBTQ people, Black history, or Jewish history, no matter how many times that group says so.

It's kind of a fill in the blank with Joe Manchin: "dealing blow to Dems ________ good climate policy, infrastructure policy, etc"

Whatever he decides to do it will be something that benefits him financially in both the short and long term.

If he runs as a third party candidate, his policies are more Republican than Democratic and he will draw more Republican votes than Democratic votes.

President Biden and the Democrats are taking serious positions on national security and domestic policy issues. I don’t agree with everything they do, and they make and have admitted to mistakes.

However, Republicans have sworn allegiance to a man who attempted a coup, is facing multiple indictments on a variety of financial and national security crimes, and who continues to tell extreme numbers of lies. That allegiance has left all of us weaker and worse off.

At this point any Republican would be awful for the speakership.

No meaningful legislation will get passed. A new budget probably won't even get passed. The few Republicans that are left that would want to pass a budget to help Americans will get ousted by MAGA.
Most of the Republicans in the House do not want to pass a budget, they just want to tank the economy so they can blame it all on Biden and the Dems.

    In the past week, I've discovered a lot of antisemitism among progressives, so it's a relief every time someone recognizes that both Israelis and Palestinians are suffering in this conflict, both groups have civilian victims, and leaders of both are culpable. Hamid posits that even oppressed people have moral agency (meaning both Israelis and Palestinians) and must not commit atrocities. He includes others too, such as American college students backing Hamas.

    In the last three days, myself and Babka's incredible moderators have fielded hate speech reports about 90 accounts, across 53 instances.

    As far as I can tell, none of them have been acted on by the remote instances. None.

    Saying the Fediverse has an antisemitism problem is an extreme understatement. This network systemically hates Jews and treats us differently than other marginalized groups, even when we're the literal victims of terrorism.
