Our 2024 masking policy:

  • Our presentation space is ventilated as-outdoors (verified by CO2 monitoring last year) and will not be filled to capacity
  • Masks are generally not required (all indoor spaces are single-occupancy)
  • Some seats will be reserved for people who want to wear a mask and only be near people who wear masks
  • Speakers can request that backstage/on-stage staff wear a mask

It's not perfect protection for everyone, but we hope it cares for people who need extra protection.

In case you were wondering how is a bit different from other conferences:

Last year we suggested travelling to by kayak. One of our attendees called our bluff, and paddled into the event both days.

This year, we've been contacted by an attendee offering to lead a kayak expedition to the conference.

Other exciting news, starting with our 2024 conference, we're now a project of @ThePSF! We're excited to work together to advance the PSF's mission of a diverse community of programmers.

For attendees, very little should be different, except for the name on your ticket receipts.

Finally, a few other things have changed for our 2024 conference, most notably our Health and Safety Policy requires masks in fewer locations (based on ventilation testing during our 2023 event). We're making specific accommodations for people – including speakers – who still want to take that precaution. Full details are available at https://2024.northbaypython.org/health-and-safety-policy

NEW INNOVATION

Instead of sending the "your product has shipped" notification the moment a label is generated, with a tracking page that says "item not picked up yet", a vendor has waited a full day to send its notification.

So, like, I knew COBRA (for the non-USians: it’s the thing we have here for healthcare coverage when you become unemployed) was a ripoff.

But like. Wow. COBRA is a RIPOFF. lmao
