Instead we got the end of Roe v Wade, the Right howling to do the same for Brown v BoE, Loving, CRA and anything else that's ever been good for humanity with a solid possibility they destroy all civilization in their pursuit of industrialized barbarism.

When this all burns down will there be anybody left who even remembers a functional democratic republic to mourn it properly?

Israel doesn't vote in our elections, we're pandering to them for seemingly no reason.

We're doing literally nothing about rising fascism, we're just crossing our fingers and hoping the DoJ figures everything out on its own.

@Susan60 @actuallyautistic I've told people that if you offered me a time machine on the condition that I relive high school first, I wouldn't take the deal.

Earlier childhood would be an easier sell mostly because with 3 siblings and a good backyard, I was very thoroughly insulated against the bullshit that takes over your life as you age up.

I have more tools now but I still spend the majority of my time on other people's priorities and plans.

We blew up Iran to force them to reboot when we didn't approve of who they elected. Same for Pakistan and bunch of other places.

I don't think this was a great place to jump in as "No True Snowman" stan.

"It's not a real democracy until the US approves of who got elected!"

Those nations don't have democracy now because we didn't approve of what democracy they did have in the past. We can't blow up their democracies and then blame them for not having democracies, that's not an ethical position.

@GossiTheDog Most users of Windows aren't equipped to take these warnings seriously.

They hear very regularly both how terrible Windows security is and how little they have to really worry about it as a private citizen with no big visible public persona.

This will work basically like Y2k - everybody freaks out briefly, the furor dies down after some very smart people do tons of mitigation, and then the layperson won't even believe anything happened.

@GossiTheDog I'm aware, I'm just feel like it's a perspective we need to keep in mind.

There's been such a harsh consequence for users straying off the beaten path that it is easy to get a cadre of power users motivated but then to not being able to reach anybody else.
