@malin@lkh it does just try later.
We have set it up to connect periodically with each other via cronjob. A machine that's not permanently online would run its own job when it is online, build a connection and download packets for it and upload some intended for others.
Of course this all makes it necessary that machines know each other.
On another kids birthday party. This time they are bouldering.
Which is... you know my home village is in an area that is incredibly popular among rock climbers because of all the nice walls there, and yet I never did it. But my son grows up 800km in the flatness of Poland but still gets to do it on a birthday party.
one of the weird things about using #uucp mails is how slow that whole thing is, even when just connecting over two jumps.
sure, the machines connect every 15 minutes, but that still means there's at least half an hour until I get a response, even if the other party immediately responds
I was just shopping with my kids, and it was just like herding cats.
Including the random disappearing when you turn your back.
Actually, cats always seemed to be easier. At least with them you KNEW they weren't gonna listen to what you want. With kids it might be they want to be HELPFUL.
it took us a long time searching before finding our cats today.
they still are in the hiding under furniture phase and during the night found a hard to reach (and find) spot under the sofa. the only thing I saw was a moving paw as our new black cat moved further in.
@pixelfedde are there bigger issues with pixelfed.de right now? I don't seem to see interactions from other services, even if I know they are there (e.g. if I like or boost from my mastodon account).
@kyonshi How did the dynamics change in the "Return to" scenario they did many years later, I can't remember.
I do remember Keep feeling very organic and a good structure for adventuring around, with that sense of "go, return, develop" which is very lacking in most official scenarios.
I've never had an issue with Keep, just some very thematically ossified DMs playing it.
We now have two young cats (albeit not kittens) in our flat. And they are frightened and hide away and only come out when they don't see me move.
And I am reminded that our first cat stepped out of the carrier, inspected the rooms, tried some zoomies (also running into a mirror), and generally behaved as if he owned the flat. At night he slept between us.
Some woman just tried to break into my colleague's home while he and his dogs were there.
He of course thinks it was intentional because the person was running away right after, but on the other hand, wouldn't that also be your reaction if you just embarrassed yourself by walking into the wrong house and there were a bearded dude and two dogs?
But that reminds me of the time in my uni dorm when some girl knocked on my door and walked right past me to my bed (saying "sorry I'm late but I'm finally here") before noticing I was still standing at the door, I was not the person she was expecting, and this was not the flat she was supposed to be.
I was afraid she was gonna die of embarrassment right there.
It's almost aggressively bland for a game about clockwork automatons in 18th ct. France. I mean, it's playable, but...
There is no reason for this game to eat 60gb of my HD space. There is no reason why this game only should run on the lowest graphics settings on a midline gaming laptop released after the game came out.
It feels like they're trying to decorate a turd. This doesn't have the substance to need these specs.
@kyonshi Not only that, they drop French phrases into the dialogue for, as far as I can tell, no good reason other than to remind you that they are French.
