First minute and a half:
Wow, I feel great, I bet I can run a 10K!This is going to be FUN! 🤪

Immediately followed by:
Jesus, how long has it been? 🥵

At 2K:
Ok! Nearly halfway. You can do it.

At 3.8K:
Why am I doing this to myself? 😩

The last kilometer:
checks distance every 200 meters or so

At 5K:
Finally! acquired! Take that, reformed couch potato! 💪

So I'm reading How to Hide an Empire by Daniel Immerwahr. It covers the 19th- to early 20th-century practice of farming guano to fertilize fields. They had ships covering the oceans literally scraping bird and bat feces up for farmers to use on their crops, while also claiming almost a hundred islands as American territories in the process.

American colonialism is LITERALLY batshit.

Humming-butt. We are blessed in that our back porch is regularly visited by these cheeky little flying jewels. I have tried to photograph them for some years and failed. I have just finished improving the technology and it’s good enough now, but have still not captured one in flight or looking at me. Summer project!
