some_guy,

If another man jacks of thinking about your wife, the sex with her is slightly less satisfying. /s

Fuck these small-minded fucks.

some_guy,

Montana’s young people have set a precedent. We can build on this and demand the same on a federal level.

some_guy,

Boomers know they won’t have to endure the consequences and care only for themselves and maybe one generation of offspring. And the ones who don’t have progeny are making the logical conclusion that this is the best thing for them, flat out. Why vote against themselves. Selfish assholes.

some_guy,

You do realize that means very little in the South, right?

“Patrick Braxton accomplished something no other black resident of the City of Newbern had ever accomplished since the city’s founding in 1854: he was duly elected Mayor of the City,” the lawsuit claims. “However, the minority White residents of the City, long accustomed to exercising total control over city government, refused to accept this outcome.”

Black mayor of tiny Alabama town says he was ousted by his White predecessor

some_guy,

I can’t figure out what outcome the cop was trying to achieve by withholding the video. The defense asked for it. The white guys. Maybe the cop is Black and wanted them to lose?

Purchasers of worthless digital monkeys sue worthless digital monkey auction house after realizing that worthless digital monkeys are worthless (arstechnica.com)

The Sotheby’s auction house has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by investors who regret buying Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs that sold for highly inflated prices during the NFT craze in 2021.

some_guy,

That’s an average price of over $241,000, but Bored Ape NFTs now sell for a floor price of about $50,000 worth of ether cryptocrurrency, according to CoinGecko data accessed today.

Wait till they realize the actual value is $0.

some_guy,

There was the bit about Sotheby’s misrepresenting FTX as a buyer, but that doesn’t make me any more sympathetic to their situation. Which, now that I’ve typed that, is extremely cynical when I like to think of myself as empathetic. I’m gonna try to change my take here. I like @db2’s take that the money should be invested in public education.

some_guy,

Hopefully, a witness will come forward and out him for having done something he shouldn’t before she was 18 so that they can try to have him extradited. He’s a predator and she needs to be removed from his creepy clutches.

some_guy,

The headline made me think this was going to be good news.

some_guy,

I could see it.

some_guy,

Waking up each day wondering which it will be on that day is half the fun.

some_guy,

There you go again with weak arguments that don’t compare to this.

Let’s try a different track: I’m asking you to to go to all of those places and do all of those actions. It’ll be more productive than either (good-faith) getting the conversation distracted responding to explain why those aren’t good points or (bad-faith) derailing things just for the fun of being contrarian.

some_guy,

I’m not afraid of gay dudes. I’m afraid of their dicks! /s

some_guy,

That would defeat the purpose of stoking fear.

some_guy,

(Not mine): This is only the fourth time in the history of the United States that a former president has been indicted.

some_guy,

Pretty much the face I’d expect of someone who would do this.

some_guy,

Why is someone allowed to record this? At first I thought it was happening without being noticed, but then the cameraperson moves and even moves again to record the laptop screen. Wtf? Trump is famously all about avoiding a paper trail, so this seems like it would be verboten.

ETA: this is a serious question. Can someone come up with an explanation for why this was allowed to happen?

some_guy,

Other than the infrequent bits where he discusses home life and social events (which I tend to skim), it’s a pretty engaging read. It’s also kind of shocking how little he could get anyone from the alphabet agencies to care. I’m approaching the end and it’s getting exciting in that nerdy way that a good hacker story does. Hope you enjoy it.

some_guy,

I was afraid that I’d die in my sleep. Not like from health issues. Monsters or something unknown that only existed when I was alone in the dark. To a later age than I’d prefer to share.

Fuck, all right, I got over it last week. /s but the rest was true.

Hexbear Discussion Round 2

I figured since their admin has asked them to stop participating over here it may be worthwhile to get a new discussion going that is primarily blahaj. I’m almost certain they’ll still be upvoting so keep that in mind as that may skew things. Worthwhile to check in from instances that have already defederated them. The...

some_guy,

The previous thread was pretty concerning though ngl - I don’t think they intended to brigade but it still happened.

I think it’s hard to deny that when other people start talking about your community then you are likely to feel somewhat attacked. I say judge on any thread except the ones that are about them. Base it on their behavior and comments in the wider Lemmiverse. Personally, I want to try to make things work rather than being reactionary. That said, I had one (and only one) user from there try to talk a bunch of shit at me. I just stopped engaging and things were fine.

some_guy,

Ada in another post:

That’s the issue I raised with their admin. The admin deleted the post in question and made changes to stop it happening again.

some_guy,

Keep in mind they have been in an echo chamber for three years. It’s not a surprise that there may be an adjustment period where they work on their culture and come out better.

When I think of all the times that I’ve marveled at the person I’ve become (through working on myself), I’m really impressed that I got where I am. People change and grow and adapt and evolve. So do communities.

I like that Blahaj wants to try to find solidarity. I hope for this to be the attitude on as many instances as possible.

some_guy,

The problem is not the he got a laughably high fine, it’s that the others don’t. I think something in the hundreds of thousands would be more appropriate for a private individual. I expect an appeal to reign that in some, if filed.
