Seems like it’s a big work across multiple codebases: mutter, gtk, gstreamer, mesa, gtk applications, might be also kernel. There are improvements and blogposts, but we still didn’t get graphics offloading on regular fedora desktop. I suspect that’s why it seems like devs are doing this feature over and over again. Let’s wait while they cook for us.
I thought this was an article talking about how Wayland makes it possible to perform deeply low-level optimizations to improve the performance of things like high-resolution video playback. Thank you for clearing it up for me.
