Keefe’s going to get the blame but Treliving’s forward additions didn’t do much either.

bluemite,

Which ones are you thinking? Bertuzzi and Domi had 4 points each in the playoffs. Domi took some dumb penalties, but you can hardly say he didn’t do much.

I believe that Domi and the larger defencemen brought in, improved the team. It’ll be an interesting summer for sure! Edit, forgot to mention Dewar too. Char players that take up the slack when it’s gut check time. That’s why I like Nylander so much.

People need to stop talking about Leaf GMs as if they run the team. Everyone knows Shanahan makes the roster decisions

Agree. It’s time to toss some snot for some skilled role players who can be as snotty as they like.

CPC, to devils in Devils' Back-to-Back Results Are Due for an Improvement

We’ve been eating it on back-to-back’s, but we play better against better teams. We also play better at arenas that don’t have shit ice (like the Rock does). LGD

ericjmorey, (edited )

Vitek playing at a league average level would be a big help. He’s playing a lot worse than he has for most of his career. Don’t know what the answer is.

NicoTimoNemo, to devils in 4 Devils Breakout Candidates for 2023-24

Don’t blame Holtz for his lack of success when Fitz admitted to mismanaging him last season when he could have played on a regular basis in Utica.

mahparson, to ottawasenators in Senators Face Tough Battle for 2024 Playoff Spot

Great write up, though I think our d-core is going to be better than they’re getting credit for. If Sanderson continues to improve at the same pace and Chabot gets back to form (which is hopeful if he gets a lighter load), Chychrun and Zub round out a killer top 4.

lorax,

Agreed! The wildcards for me are injuries and how well they can get each lines to gel. Lots of talent but we haven’t really seen consistent lines. Hopefully they can figure it out early in the season!

I agree, no need to rush. Except of course if 75% of the roster is injured like the past season 💀

chemsed, to habs in Worst contracts for 2023-2024

I am surprised that Hoffman is not on this list, but they think Armia is worse, even if his contract end next year like Hoffman. After thinking about it, I have to agree. Armia was completely useless at the beginning of the season.

HydroRaven,

I agree, I would put Hoffman’s contract ahead of Allen’s. But I guess the author doesn’t see it that way?

I agree that being stuck with Gallagher’s 6.5M contract untill 27-28 will hurt, but frankly, it could be so much worse.

I wonder if we will be able to “sell” Price’s contract to another team like we did with Weber last year

The future is looking bright according to this article!

Also, so many defensemen

Blastoid5000, to habs in Top prospects

I’m not sold on Slafkovsky’s hockey IQ. Kid got blind-sided two-dozen times last year.

Also notable, feels like this list is a sign that we are finally giving up on Primeau as the next starter. I think Monty will be better than expected this upcoming season. He played well last year behind a terrible team.

HydroRaven, (edited )

I’m not ready to throw the towel on Slafkowsky yet. I see his problem as being similar to Lindros’s; they’re big guys and never had to keep their heads up in juniors, so they didn’t grow up with that mentality. But I hope St. Louis can impress the need to keep mindful of his surroundings.

Blastoid5000,

Yeh I’m not saying I’m giving up on him - that would be crazy after one season - I’m just saying I’m not sold on him. Great point about juniors.

Power forwards can definitely take a good 5 years to mature into their role (and body size).

I think that so far, Kent Hughes’ track record is spotless. None of the contracts he signed were bad,
