A word on reddit, blackouts, & effective protesting (invidious.privacydev.net)
I gotta say, I’m with Louis on this one, at least for subreddits that are more about entertainment than about providing essential services.
Migrate user from one kbin or lemmy instance to another
I know the posts and content are shared between instances, but if an instance is shutting down it would be useful if there was a way to migrate your user data / identity to another instance....
OC You can now get Kbin-it, my Reddit-like theme for kbin! (userstyles.world)
It doesn't have much to offer, the code is a mess, but I know some people would really appreciate it!...
Problem with name
loath it or hate it you can't deny it... Reddit is quite a catchy name....
Realistically how does the fediverse make money and remain sustainable? only donations?
I started using mastodon when musk bought twitter and kbin with all the reddit API shitshow. I like the idea of the fediverse but how does it have longevity?
What's up with many Fediverse services not having a public timeline?
Now that i'm getting used to being in Fedi long term i've started looking beyond Mastodon and Lemmy to the other services. And now i've started to see that some of the services, like Pixelfed, Friendica and others don't seem to have a public timeline. Seems specially absurd for Pixelfed since you WANT your photos to be visible...
I am making a reddit-like kbin theme :DD
(I wasn't sure if kbinMeta was the right place to post that, so I am posting it here instead)...
How much potential is there for Fediverse frontends decoupled from a specific type of server?
I'm new to the Fediverse. So far I've been very impressed by the interoperability between the different instance types. Here in Kbin, I can subscribe to communities on Lemmy servers and have them seamlessly appear as magazines in the Kbin UI. I can also follow users on Mastadon servers and see all their posts as Microblogs....
Are communities from other instances bugged? Am I stupid?
Specifically, communities from lemmy seem to show lower post/subscriber counts here than on lemmy, and don't display all of the posts?...

The Reddit blackout has started for /r/joplinapp - Sopuli (sopuli.xyz)
Kinda managed to attract a founder of FOSS note taking app (which got tens of thousands of users). He made his first post in this unofficial community...
Return of the fed-equettte?
One thing I hated in the later years of reddit was the lack of reddiquette. Not making simple comments that could just have been an upvote. Reading the board rules. Trying to just be educated about your posts in general. Not asking for simple explanations that can easily be found on a web search....
Good video on federated alternatives. (yewtu.be)
I just stumbled about this video on federated alternatives to Reddit.
Am I doing this right?
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’m new to this whole fediverse thing and I don’t know if it works like it seems to....
A collection of documentation and sample code for Calckey Plugins using AiScript v0.11.1. (codeberg.org)
I’ve had a blast learning how to build plugins on the Calckey platform. Over few past few weeks, I’ve curated and written all kinds of documentation and sample code. It’s now in an open source repository and I hope it’s useful for the community. ✌️
Ernest seems thirsty (www.buymeacoffee.com)
Maybe someone should post this link every day for the foreseeable future because I think it’s gonna be a sleepless week for the Fediverse, but a great one as well....
Take a bow, developers of kbin.social
Hats off, guys. I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for you guys to keep kbin.social up and running since yesterday....
Export lemmy/kbin account data
With so many smaller instances being spun up, it's likely that many of them will shut down in the future when unexpected costs show up. Wouldn't it make sense to be able to import and export your account data to smoothly transition over to another instance? Sorry if this is something already planned for in the pipeline.
Admin of infosec.exchange (large Mastodon instance) has created Lemmy and kbin instances (infosec.exchange)
Twitter has lost 66% of its value since Elon Musk bought it (qz.com)
Is there a "how to" on the fediverse
Hello! As all of you know there's been a recent migration of new users to places like this (me included). I'm thrilled about learning how to use these site and others alike, but I'm having trouble understading how it works. Is there a dumb down video about how the sites on the fediverse work and interact with each other? like...
A Resource For Figuring Out The Fediverse - SethGoldstein.me (sethgoldstein.me)
This page on my personal site is a curated list of information about Mastodon and the Fediverse. There's a form at the bottom to submit other (not-yet-listed items).
