Best case scenario probably. I don’t want him to break his iron man streak, but I more so want him to keep himself healthy as possible through the season.
I read elsewhere that if he misses many regular season games that the Chiefs can tag him next year cheap. They said for that reason he would not miss 7-8 games. I have no idea if this is true.
I’ll admit that I’m getting a little nervous about the whole situation, but I won’t fully panic unless the Chiefs restructure someone ELSE’S contract before the Jones deal gets done. From everything I’ve read, the team was hoping for a new Jones deal to give them some cap flexibility this season. So if all of a sudden, someone like Kelce gets their contract tweaked, that’d indicate that the team has given up on a new Jones deal for now. At least, that’s how I’m coping at the moment.
Man, the voices coming from chiefs staff and Jones himself tell 2 very different stories. I don’t mean to sound doomy, but this tweet and the james Cameron one together give me serious pause. I’m starting to think think we’re really not gonna keep Jones.
That sucks for the team, a lot, cuz there’s a good chance we lose the eagles and Frisco bowls without him.
Also me personally cuz he’s the one player i just knew was going to be great at signing. I’m not usually so good with my predictions. I actually special ordered a Jones jersey before they were available. I love that guy.
I say this as an Eagles fan. The game was a shootout and I wish the turf was much better than it was because I love seeing aggressive pass rushing, but I also want BG to let it go and move on. I was happy that the team as a whole hasn’t done much excuse making after the game because it doesn’t change anything.
It’s possible to criticize the field without making excuses for your loss, BG. I don’t want the eagles players and fans to sound like their counterparts from SF.
Yes the Eagles had the better pass rush. But as this article points out the Chiefs had the second best sack rate behind them and only 1 less post season sack this year.
My understanding is that the different types of pass rush were affected differently. The Eagles use their edge a lot which requires a lot of bend and agility, which the playing surface hindered. The Chiefs got a lot of pressure and sacks from the middle (mainly Chris Jones). That’s mostly power so it wasn’t affected as much.
But what it really comes down to is that shit happens and you have to deal with it. There are tons of factors that can affect one team more than another (weather being the most common one), it’s part of the game. They try to make the Super Bowl as even as possible and there was a mistake here but that doesn’t mean the Chiefs won the Super Bowl any less.
