Brilliant. They've (yet again) discovered that people who aren't able to stand/walk much have underlying health problems that make them more likely to have a shorter life.
Though the article seems to be suggesting that desk jobs start to kill people in under 3 years.

When consulting with Chevron more than a decade ago at their HQ, they had mechanized standing desks at every cubicle in HR.
The risk-aware culture was hyper-focused on repetitive stress injuries, driven by OSHA oversight and workman’s comp insurance premiums at downstream / upstream drilling and refining operations.
That was also the cultural norm at corporate headquarters.
I remember being shocked that an insurance company didn’t drink this Kool-Aid for its own HQ.
@paninid@lkngrrr LOL, I built my own standing desk... switch between standing and sitting depending on what I am doing. It's been great for my back, for sure.
