Experts are warning that a dengue fever outbreak in Latin America and the Caribbean could grow after 4.7 million people have already been infected this year, a higher number of cases than in all of 2023. The disease has exploded due to heavy precipitation from El Niño and climate change creating conditions in which mosquitoes that carry the virus thrive.
