Good news and bad news for users if :

They're working on a DB version in parallel that will provide better scalability, performance and realtime (). They'll charge for RTC.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the end for markup as they are implementing only now and a conversion feature later on. 😞

Therefore, logseq is not an option for me any more and I'll need to think about a migration strategy for my wife.

@publicvoit huge bummer! Hopefully some of the community can bring back (and hopefully further enhance) OD support once the APIs stabilize.

I probably should accelerate my plan to learn and figure out syncing my knowledge graph with org-roam just in case.

@publicvoit bummer. Maybe you can convince them to adopt only OD1 instead of the entire set?

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@aRubes They already have a large set of people using their Orgdown option.

I'm not an active user myself and I think my voice is way less weight than their existing user-base using Orgdown. 🤷

@publicvoit But where do you read, that orgdown ist killed for file based graphs?

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@frank Orgdown is not killed for file based graphs. I don't even know what this means.

Orgdown is killed in favor of Markdown. This is in the comment section.

@publicvoit for emacs I highly recommend denote :)

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@mykhaylo denote is great but I don't need Zettelkasten and I prefer different naming conventions.

@publicvoit denote-like approach can be easily adjusted to different naming. Everything else you describe also doesn’t sound too hard to implement for emacs. Or is it?

skizye,

@mykhaylo Would love for denote and @publicvoit tools (e.g. filetags) to be compatible with each other. The filename schemes already carry similar information. If this already exists somehow, would love to know.

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@skizye @mykhaylo Yes. That would be great. Not for myself (because I don't use denote) but for others.

However, since I won't change the default naming convention of filetags, this can only be achieved by some flexibility of denote.

mykhaylo,
@mykhaylo@fosstodon.org avatar

@publicvoit @skizye maybe you could write an article on the difference of the approach with denote? Because strictly speaking denote is not about zettelkasten, it’s about naming files.

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@mykhaylo @skizye I'm not following the principles of denote and never will.

E.g., I'm mostly working with the same handful of Orgdown files: https://karl-voit.at/2020/05/03/current-org-files/

mykhaylo,
@mykhaylo@fosstodon.org avatar

@publicvoit @skizye thanks for the article. If for example you want to make a note on using lsp server in emacs, which then relates to emacs, lsp, python and clojure (for example), where do you put it? Or how do you label it?

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@mykhaylo @skizye The articles liked on https://graz.social/@publicvoit/112365936364300767 should give you the answer. In short: doesn't matter as long as they're linked to any location that's relevant.

@mykhaylo@fosstodon.org avatar

@publicvoit @skizye denote is GPL, you can take it and change it however you want. Doesn’t get much more flexible than that :)
