@publicvoit I really feel the dumb injuries line after banging my knee on a doorframe this morning but yeah I guess it does beat the alternative.

Honestly voting this year is going to be so hard. How can I choose between the two best presidents this country ever had?

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@Reshirams_Rad_Slam @Inextinguishable_Ravings @Cerbdashrdashus I think that was the point Inextinguishable was making - if you are hawkish on China and that's your only issue you might be a fan of both candidates.

For Europeans wanting to remove their data from , wouldn't a GDPR deletion request do the trick? I wish we had real data privacy laws in my country.

Anyone building a federated Stack Overflow?

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@dansup does stackoverflow really have anything that the other link aggregators / ranked forums like lemmy or kbin don't other than an automod closing functionality if you don't have enough karma and the ability for a thread's OP to pin a reply?

anyone have a working setup with logseq (in orgdown) and playing nice in logseq's folder (orgroam dailies in 'journals', etc)? Currently my vault is a mix of org and md but I'm hoping to at least get the org files recognized while I work on converting the md (or figure out ). I tried playing with org-logseq but even though I'm matching correctly on its grep for the folder and I have title properties I couldn't get it working after a good attempt.

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

I've heard of org-roam-logseq and logseq-org-roam, maybe one of those will work better?

Edit: accidentally made this a separate post, reposting in thread for context.

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@wigol yeah the logseq db announcement was a bit disappointing for sure. Emacs 30 being on Android takes away some of the reasons for a logseq as the mobile end of a org workflow, especially if developer interest refines that mobile experience further.

#askfedi I remember someone posting awhile back about a #Firefox extension that collected #RSS feeds as you browsed, but I can't seem to find it anymore in the mastodon search or in Firefox's extension search. Anyone know of such an extension?

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@Reshirams_Rad_Slam yeah the one I remember reading about was similar to the add-ons that re-enable the rss link (some also add in previews), but instead of only doing that it added any found feeds to some local storage mechanism, and when you wanted to export it'd give you a OPML file to load into your favorite feedreader.

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@Inextinguishable_Ravings definitely possible it was your discussion, and possibly (the only thing matching in my notes vault) I might have mixed that memory with reading about https://streetpass.social/ which does the collecting of opted-in mastodon users as you browse. Bummer you weren't able to find a perfect one, but thanks for the recommendation to look into Sage-Like.

I think there's several different flavors of wealth in the world.

Poverty: People who can barely support themselves.

Stability: People who are self-supporting, but no long-term savings.

Affluence: People who are financially secure well into retirement.

Generational wealth: People who can boost their children/grandchildren into affluence.

Dynastic wealth: People whose descendants will never have to worry about money no matter how much they spend.

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@Legit_Spaghetti there's probably another large layer in between your stability + affluence levels where long term savings exist, but not yet to the point of security through retirement. I'd say maybe "aspirational" level since these are the folks that want to / likely will eventually be in "affluence" or higher, but are definitely beyond simple emergency savings / stability.

People should really try to understand how voting methods work. Math is hard if you have to think about counting everyone's vote, I guess 🙄 (starvoting.org, it's not that hard)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Israeli_legislative_election "both blocs were neck-and-neck, with the anti-Netanyahu bloc achieving 49.5% but not gaining enough seats due to Meretz and Balad narrowly missing the electoral threshold, as 289,000 anti-Netanyahu votes went wasted in terms of seats share."

Neblib,

@gcvsa @enobacon a free, fair, and representative election is far more likely to get one than any alternative. The counterpoints relate to some failing in making the election truly fair, free, or representative of the populace.
