Spoony pagan witch here.
To me, Samhain is a season. It's basically all of October for me. I can't squeeze everything into that one day or weekend.
Usually, on October 31st, I hand out treats to the trick-or-treaters, make a pumpkin soup and watch a horror movie or show. So for me, that day is basically just Halloween and not so much Samhain.
Everything else more Samhain-ish, like celebrating with my ancestors, giving offerings etc. and other stuff I do somewhen in October when I feel like it, when I have enough spoons and time for it.

Back in the day, I used to go out to the woods on the nearest New Moon before Samhain to charge and sanctify new ritual tools. After a while, though, I had a bunch of tools already, so I slowly stopped doing it.
I think it's a great year to pick this back up, I just need to do some divination/meditation/shopping in order to find a tool that I might need. Ideas about obscure ritual tools are welcome. :pentagram:
But seriously, my thoughts on a powerful Samhain are tied up with worries about what we're doing to the Earth and how it's responding this year. I fear there might be a lot of work to do at Samhaan.
I also haven't made any concrete plans yet but have been pushing to do some kind of event here if we're able. It definitely feels like a charged year in so many ways, it will be very interesting to see how the Samhain season manifests that potential energy. Very much looking forward to it!

I haven't started planning yet, but I'm sooo ready.
I feel more grown into my practice so I'm eager to see another Samhain season and yes it does feel like it's going to be a really good one. A lot going on in a circle that I run in...
@khthoniaa@fedpagan@witchcraft@paganism I still have kids that go trick-or-treating so we do that and I pick different ways of dressing as a witch when I take them out. I do light some candles to honor my ancestors and there are a couple of prayer like chants I do. If it’s nice and there isn’t school/work the next day, we do a fire in the fierpit. If we can’t, I light a bunch of candles and quietly sit in the dark. I will sometimes make soul cakes.
@witchcraft@khthoniaa@fedpagan@paganism It feels like it’s been a cosmically active year. For me, Samhain sounds like a good time to restart energy and set new intentions. I feel like I’m just floundering right now and I’ve lost momentum with my rituals.
For as long as I’ve been alive I’ve loved the season and mundane traditions surrounding Samhain. My rituals are really bare bones tho. I’ve always carved a pumpkin the night before, and after getting more magical with it, I’ve just added more intention with the practice. Specifically to attract good spirits and appease troublemakers 🎃
I’m curious what others have planned and where they do thier practice
