I for one hope we normalize relations with a genocidal, authorization, communist regime. Never again right! Unless we get cheap products then never mind
It's good to be better terms with China though, since no one benefits from a war. That being said, I don't know how this can be recovered since the two countries have such diametrically opposed beliefs, particularly with regards to Taiwan.
Well I’m not saying start WW3, I just think it’s a better idea to not have them be major trading partner and financially prop up the regime.
I’d imagine if Nixon never normalized relations and later presidents didn’t promote trade with them they’d still be a backwater and it wouldn’t even be feasible for them to attempt to take Taiwan.
