Has anybody tried to write something to use the #SteamDeck like a gamepad for a Linux desktop? I wonder if it would be possible to cook up something via #KDEConnect, although I suspect they over WiFi that would be suboptimal. A direct connection via USB would probably be better.

@oblomov it should be definitely doable as apparently the SteamDeck does support acting as a USB device abd using the USB Gadget kernel driver.

E.g.: somebody using it as a printer: https://hackaday.com/2023/01/31/steamdeck-become-printer/

It should be possible to achieve acting as a gamepad by using HID Gadget (g_hid).

@oblomov if you miss gyro and trackpads, you could try steam controller. Even though it's been discontinued a few years ago, it's still well supported by steam and can be found on ebay in perfect condition

@zhulik nah, for that I still have my trusty Wii controllers 8-) this is more of a curiosity of mine about alternative uses of the Deck
