@fkamiah17 why are these people not facing a very long jail sentence? It's utterly sickening that they keep getting away with theft from the country like this
@fkamiah17 I'm at the point where a g*n is the only way ahead. My innate pacifism is getting me nowhere except closer to an unjust future for my children. I just can't let it be like this anymore. Something has to change.
@JackTheCat No no no no no. I understand where that comes from, but no.
You've got kids? All this shit (but the climate stuff in particular) was the reason I never had them myself.
@JackTheCat When I was about five, my auntie bought me a doll for my birthday and its squishy face and fluttery eyes freaked me out so much I screamed the place down for about half an hour, then annouced to the entire family that I was never having any babies 😂
@JackTheCat Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike kids. I had the whole "ticking clock" thing in my early 30s. That's how I ended up looking after other people's for a bit - testing to see if my initial decision was correct 😄
@patrickhadfield@JackTheCat
Mate, if you could have seen some of the hideous concoctions I'd created in pubs across the metropolitan area of London 25 years ago in the name of "having it all in one glass", you'd never speak to me again 😂
@JackTheCat@patrickhadfield
I'm sure it worked though. The "quick route" for us in those days was a bomb of Billy in a shot of tequila in a pint of Stella down in one. The Depth Charge.
Makes me want to puke just thinking about it.
@JackTheCat@fkamiah17 and this is probably why a loathe cocktails. And CERTAINLY why I loathe gin. I haven't had gin in forty years after a mate and I polished off a litre of the stuff...!
@patrickhadfield@JackTheCat
Oh, I think it's stretching the definition to call them "cocktails", Patrick 😂
Hard agree on the gin. Got incredibly drunk on it when I was very too young and it scarred me for life.
@fkamiah17@patrickhadfield@JackTheCat everybody says how evocative of the past taste and smell are, but they don’t like to mention that disgust 🤢 is even more memorable.
@fkamiah17@patrickhadfield@JackTheCat No denying that.
It’s odd that we’re usually good at forgetting unpleasant experiences, but not these intense ones. Is it triggering a ‘poison - avoid - remember’? Who knows.
We just, in my own youth when it was a fashionable drink, had Tequila. In Belize and Guatemala, though, I drank Caribbean rum, in Cyprus Brandy Sour....
For me it was just a Cyprus thing, didn't equate back to home and the different strength of brandy. Others in my team drank Carlsburg, and woke up to regret it far more than me.
