If you are wondering why, a bunch of bad actors are spamming racist posts to a.gup.pe groups. Them problem with a.gup.pe is the lack of tools to block bad actors from using it.
I think Chirp Social had some moderation capabilities, but that shut down recently. Fedigroups.social is working to have something simular.
