andrewbrandt, Amazing @boulderreportinglab reporting. I've been supporting #Boulder recognizing Boulder's first #Black neighborhood in designating a #Historic District downtown.
In my testimony to Landmarks Board (https://youtu.be/ohm8EOPFSts?feature=shared&t=11911) (3:18:30 in), an area now occupied by Boulder's main public library was designated "Block 11" back in the 1870s when the city was just a frontier mining supply town. Blocks 11 and 12 was the only place Black or brown residents could own a home. It was later demolished, its residents displaced and poorly compensated.
This story should be told.
