I have a Hongdian 516. It's a slim, stainless steel pen with a fine nib. I have a Lamy Safari in a lemon yellow that I put a 1.1 mm nib on. I have a Pelikan demonstrator that was a gift and I hate the damn thing. Putting ink in it reminded me of why I stopped putting ink in it. It has a springy steel nib, which I do enjoy, but ink inevitably ends up inside the cap, then on the section, and then on my hand. Ink-stained wretch is me.

disorganised_penguins,

Oh boy… I have specific pens for specific tasks…

  • Pilot E95 and two Wing Sung 3003s with fine plumix nibs inked for work notes

  • Pilot Falcon, Platinum Meteor and Pilot Prera (with a CM nib) for school work

  • Two more Meteors for out and about notebooks

  • Another Wing Sung with a plumix nib for daily review/journaling

  • And an extra fine Pilot Kakuno that I shouldn’t have inked without a specific reason, opps… I’m sure I’ll find a task for it soon…

10 pens, not quite as bad as I thought!

forthefading,

I have three Lamy Safaris (neon yellow, mango, dark lilac) and two Lamy Al-Stars (copper, blue-green), one Twsbi Eco (green), one Twsbi Diamond 580, one TWSBI Mini, and a Sheaffer No Nonsense (pink) currently inked.

Out of all of these, I can only recall some of the inks, because they've been in there for a while (I really need to clean and refill most of these pens). The Mini has Diamine Red Dragon, the No Nonsense (and one of the Al-Stars) has Waterman Serenity Blue, another Safari has Lamy Black, another Safari has Noodler's Apache Sunset, one other Safari has Diamine Tobacco Sunburst, and yet another Safari has Diamine Kelly Green. The other two TWSBIs, I don't know what inks other than one has dark blue and the other has purple.

Nice! And don't worry about forgetting what inks are in which, I do too. I keep on reminding myself to make swatches but I never do.

I have 12 Jinhao 82s (the ones that look like Sailor Pro Gear Slims), a Sailor Pro Gear, a Sailor 1911L and a Lamy Itoya Copper inked. Those fit into two pen rolls... and since there's no more space I've stopped there, hahaha. Will just empty them (I use a different pen each day) as I go along.

That's like 2 weeks worth of pens! I like that.

KaLogain,

Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel Medium with Noodler's Purple Martin
Twisbi Eco Medium with Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi (Black)
Twisbi Eco Medium with Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku (Green)
Twisbi Eco Medium with Pilot Iroshizuku Ken-peki (Blue)
Twisbi Eco Medium with Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu (Purple)
Twisbi Eco Medium with Diamine Oxblood

I appreciate your commitment to the perfect ink vessel! And well you should, Pilot Iroshizuku inks are so beautiful and they dry quick enough for this southpaw.

I gotta ask which you like better: Noodler's Purple Martin or Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki Shikibu?

My currently EDC fountain pen is the Platinum Prefounte 3F. I like to be able to have a pen I'm not super worried about destroying, and it writes pretty well on my little pocket pad at weird angles when I'm journaling out and about.

I've also got a Pilot Metropolitan, but it's a bit heavy for keeping in the pocket next to everything else that goes in there, imo.

@rodhlann This is the way. A pen for every occasion!

I have a sailor pro gear slim uh purple with the ink it came with and a 2023 pink lamy safari with lamy blue. Also a pilot 823 is inked with tsukuyomi for when the lamy runs dry (it's close!)

LeafyPasserine,

@Larvitar Oh those are some gorgeous pens!! Though the lamy is a bit too hot pink for me.

Is the Tsukuyomi by Wearingeul? Because it looks like it shades very nicely.

ojima,

I have a bunch of cheap Parker pens that I bought for a few euros back in middle school. They aren't great, and one of them is kinda clogged and doesn't flow well at the moment (I need to clean it properly again but I haven't gotten to it). Pure plastic casing, too, but I am so used to them and they feel amazing when I hold them.

LeafyPasserine,

@ojima No shame in that. All fountain pens are good fountain pens as long as you love them.

I have my fair share of cheap plastic pens and sometimes you just need something light, y'know?

I, uh... I have 83 pens currently inked.

Help.

@toga I need pics, stat! To drool over. Or maybe I'll make a new thread about favourite pens to make it easier for you.

No, but seriously let's get some life into this magazine. Show off your collection with pride!

I've got a couple that are needing flushed, but I've not been up to it the past few weeks. Once I've done that & I'm feeling a bit better I'll take some pics of them all & post it here.

Jinhao X750 with Diamine Bilberry
Jinhao 100 with Diamine Oxblood
TWSBI Eco also with Oxblood

I think that's it right now. I've got a Cross something or other but I don't remember if I refilled that or not.

LeafyPasserine,

Oxblood is such an iconic colour, but I'm amazed at what a beautiful purple Bilberries is.

How do the Jinhaos write? I've heard good things about them but haven't bought any.

BaldProphet,

I love them. I like the X750 better than the 100 because it has a snap cap. I prefer those over twist caps.

LeafyPasserine,

Good to know! Twist caps are so unintuitive to me and I always end up fruitlessly pulling for a second because of that.

I think my Charcoal Safari circa 2002 still has some ink in it, as does my new little Pelikan Jazz that I paid 5 EUR too much for in Athens, but I didn’t care because the shop owner gave my daughter a pair of 5-cent dice and made her feel like the most important girl in the world.

Still awaiting cleaning are my old Sheaffer from the 40s and Cross Solo from the 90s.

LeafyPasserine,

Pelikan Jazz = 5 EUR too much, Daughter's Happiness = Priceless.

I like vintage pens, the Hero 331 I'm using now is from the 80s and writes like a dream. I'd be interested if you posted a picture here when you're done cleaning your pens.
