Anyone who tells you that gaming on Linux isn't somewhat experimental is lying. I think it's getting there, though.

Yeah, OP definitely played hard mode lol

I wouldn't have even gone to college if I didn't have access to a privately subsidized university. That said, $40k of debt for four years of education doesn't actually seem so bad, considering living expenses. Being able to live on $10k a year (or less) is impressive.

Jacobin is a strongly biased source and unlikely to be trustworthy or accurate in it's "reporting".

I haven't used Google Search in years (DuckDuckGo ftw). I do use Copilot from time to time, and it's alright.

This kind of "checking that I'm still orthodox" post makes my skin crawl. Who is "we"?

Technically every JSON file is a single line, with line break characters here and there

Next steps after the bear

As has been discussed already here in this community, the key takeaway from the bear hypothetical is that it is an opportunity to truly listen to the lived experiences of women under patriarchal systems. I encourage “first response” to the bear discussion to head back to this post, as I am looking for discussion kind of...

If the question was “Would you rather encounter a bear or a man at a board game café?”, you’d find a lot fewer women hoping to encounter a bear.

This is why I think the bear question is useless at best and harmful at worst. It's unproductive and doesn't serve the purpose that some people wish it would.

I doubt it originated as a good-faith attempt to have a good discussion about some hard topics. I truly believe the bear question has misandry at its roots and should discarded like the sexist garbage that it is.

Of course, anyone who has been watching Hamas for the last decade knows that they routinely lie about civilian casualties while simultaneously using them as meat shields.

Secret Hamas Files Show How It Spied on Everyday Palestinians (www.nytimes.com)

The Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has for years overseen a secret police force in Gaza that conducted surveillance on everyday Palestinians and built files on young people, journalists and those who questioned the government, according to intelligence officials and a trove of internal documents reviewed by The New York Times....

Everyday Palestinians = Hamas' meat shields.

BaldProphet,

They're also victims of Hamas' war crimes, because using civilians as shields and conducting military operations from civilian locations are also war crimes. If Hamas can even be accused of such, being a terror organization rather than a legitimate government.

BaldProphet,

The accusations have been demonstrated to be true for nearly two decades. What are you smoking?

That quote doesn't support you like you think it does. Israel uses US-provided precision munitions to strike only its intended targets. Hamas, on the other hand, uses unguided rockets that cannot be legally fired towards a city. Its rockets are so unreliable, in fact, that they frequently cause casualties in Gaza.

Anyway, I've got better things to do than keep arguing with a supporter of Islamist terror groups.

Social good more than for economic reasons, since we know definitively that more education isn't required to do work that currently is high-paying.

It's not just Highway 1, too. There are many towns on the coast with roads that are right over the eroding coastal cliffs. Time to not live along those roads anymore.

FTC Non-compete rule published in Federal Register (www.govinfo.gov)

This goes into effect September 4, 2024. Employers with existing non-compete agreements must post the notice on page 163 (38504). After that date you may accept a job offer from anybody, including a direct competitor, and not worry about violating any non-compete agreement.

OP posted an article that focuses on women in a community for men. Now, I'm not saying that's a problem. What is a problem is the fact that the article barely mentions the way society discriminates against men who are childless. In fact, the only significant mention is this little quote:

“Employers read fathers as more stable and committed to their work; they have a family to provide for, so they’re less likely to be flaky,” Ms. Budig said.

I don't see the value of this article in this particular community. It's well-known that women with children are commonly discriminated against. I've never heard anyone dispute that. We need more commentary about how this type of discrimination harms men.

There's a difference between a peaceful protest and camping on the quad. These protesters aren't being arrested for protesting, they're being arrested for setting up their encampments and disrupting the other students who are simply trying to get an education.

BaldProphet,
BaldProphet avatar

Not sure what you are asking. The university told them to leave, and they didn't. They are now trespassing.

If they simply left the private campus property and continued their protest in a legal manner (i.e. not camping on private property) they wouldn't have been arrested.
