smeg,

One of the comments:

Atomik Fabrik “make” asset flip scam games. This is currently US$99.99 on the Steam store. Why? Because they release it for pennies, get just enough people to upvote it, then jack the price massively to lock in those votes so they can then sell Steam keys to grey market sites who adverttise “get 10 random positively rated Steam keys worth hundreds of dollars for a mere $10” (numbers may vary). And then people end up with this trash as part of their (allegedly) hundreds of dollars worth of games. This game is a scam, by scammers, that was never actually intended to be played, so you’re wasting your time downloading it. Shame on you Indie Gala for regularly supporting these scammers.

Seems it really is that expensive on Steam, anyone actually played any of these games or received them in the aforementioned lucky dips?

florge,

Oh wow, that’s shitty.

PonyOfWar,

Just today I watched a Youtube video of someone playing this game among others from the same developer. He came to the same conclusion. In any case it’s shovelware, not worth downloading even for free.

smeg,

Any idea if this is something you can report the game on Steam for? Don’t know if it’s the kind of thing Valve crack down on or ignore because it still makes them money.

PonyOfWar,

No idea. They’re generally not doing much about shovelware but maybe in this case it’s different, as pricing it like this means there won’t be any sales on the Steam store and Valve doesn’t get a penny from key sales.

smeg,

Seems there’s a little flag button on the Steam store page which lets you report a game

I’d wondered why IndieGala kept giving this kind of thing away when it clearly wasn’t going to work like Epic’s plan to give you a reasonable library of reasonable games in their launcher so you’d use their launcher and see their store.

smeg,

I’d never even heard of IndieGala before I set this community up, what’s their business plan in general?

Other than the freebies, they’re just a normal key retailer. They buy wholesale keys from game publishers and sell them individually to consumers.
