@nixCraft don't be me, whatever you do, don't get a Ryzen laptop which has integrated graphics (AMD) with a dedicated Nvidia GPU on top. Took me an entire year to configure properly and I'm sure it will break again when I update Neovim or make a funny face.
@nixCraft I picked No, but my new system is all AMD and I’ve had zero driver problems, as opposed to the Intel/nVidia system forgetting how to GPU every 3-6 months
@nixCraft AMD igp + Nvidia dgpu, I have worse experience than windows using an external monitor, waiting for it to improve. With gnome the monitor flashes when going fullscreen and KDE works well but some games do really bad. I'll test in near future again.
@nixCraft after years and years of struggling with driver issues because of Nvidia, I finally got an AMD card, only to struggle with some kind of bug that mysteriously crashes about half the games I play. Bad luck on my part: the issue seems to be limited to a small set of cards. I just like to complain about it.
@nixCraft my laptop with an nvidia/intel Optimus dual has always worked quite well with bumblebee/primus/... Even auto powering off the Nvidia to save battery.
@nixCraft Have not had any problems, all just work. 🤷♂️
Previous GTX980(if memory serves) and current RTX4080. Zero problems. Maybe i play wrong games? 🙄
