12 years ago the Inquirer downsized their offices into one floor of an old department store in order to sell the beautiful building they'd been in for ~90 years.

The police were supposed to move into an old insurance company headquarters but the union decided they didn't want their members parking in a neighborhood that was extra-heavily policed, and pressured the department to back out of the deal. So then the Inky building became a possibility.
