Rant: Why the heck can my ISP block access to certain websites?

ISPs across my region started blocking websites like 1377x.to, etc.

I do get the reasoning behind it, but I don't get it why they (the ISPs) have to bend over and restrict paying customers in the ability to access certain stuff on the internet.

If a school or employer restricts access because of security reasons, etc.. fine. It's their infrastructure that's at risk, and they certainly should do so.

But as I'm responsible for my own security and risk at my home, I want to decide myself what my LAN devices should have access to.

Rant over!
