seth, in Ellen Bass, "Phone Therapy".

That last paragraph gave me frisson. Thank you for posting a poem I may never have seen otherwise.

BonesOfTheMoon,

Isn’t it fascinating? Like I can see the person swallowing and agreeing and the person who took the call just exhaling.

captainjaneway, in Maggie Millner, "Couplets".

Am I off the mark here or was this meant to be sexually evocative and/or sexual assault evocative?

BonesOfTheMoon,

No it absolutely is.

flying_mechanic,

It does seem to be about being tied up and pegged

Candelestine, in Ellen Bass, "Phone Therapy".

I don’t usually bother to click these to open them unless I know the poem, but glad I did this time.

That was good.

BonesOfTheMoon,

Isn’t this great? She’s an excellent poet. I try to pick very good poetry for this community so I hope you try some more.

KillerTofu, in A poem I wrote many years ago for a friend's 30th. See if you can spot the hidden message.

Not so subtle

distantsounds, in A poem I wrote many years ago for a friend's 30th. See if you can spot the hidden message.

Who’s Bein Gold? /jk

quidome,

:)

Kaiyoto, in I felt inspired tonight and wrote a little piece I titled "Salt Water."

I really love this piece. It’s dark and leaves a lot of questions and leaves me wondering about context and metaphor. That mystery really makes the piece.

roawre, in indifferent

Your rhymes resonates with me

Coz those words does ring a bell

You’re not the only one to say nay !

But in the end, aren’t we all from the same energies ?

AnalogyAddict, in Ellen Bass, "The Thing Is".

I have never read a poem that has been so accurate.

BonesOfTheMoon,

I think it’s terrific.

YungOnions, in Ellen Bass, "The Thing Is".

Wow. Kinda inspirational, tbh.

BonesOfTheMoon,

Yes! Makes me want to get up in the morning.

Blapoo, in Ellen Bass, "The Thing Is".

I love this so much. A reckless love for life. Reasonless. Celebrate that it is happening at all.

Beautiful

BonesOfTheMoon,

Isn’t it beautiful? Made my morning better.

TropicalDingdong, in Erik Kennedy, "To a Couple Who Has Their Rings Brought to the Altar by Drone at Their Garden Wedding".

Katabatic winds are not cold but warm

Borkingheck, in Louise Gluck has passed away, this is her poem Sunset.

I feel thick as shit reading poetry.

Poems are not locked boxes to be picked at. They don’t have secrets to discover. Read and let any feelings ignited by the words burn.

Borkingheck,

Nah, I wanna know what the author is trying to convey.

Feelings are what poems convey, anything more is just onanism by the reader or author

BonesOfTheMoon,

I don’t feel like I am particularly good at it either but I find if I persevere at reading it (I read about 20 poems a day) it makes my imagination broaden. Sometimes I’m completely lost but much of the time I read them and am just astonished at all those words fit together.

My advice is don’t bother trying too hard to understand it and just let the images your mind conjures reading it guide you.

Borkingheck,

Too many years of English where we had to dissect the meaning of passages. I genuinely feel I can’t switch my brain off from trying to decipher meaning and then I get frustrated at not knowing the answer. Ha!

Agent641, in Jay Hulme, "For a Short While".

People like to write about the audacity of Sisyphus pushing the rock up the hill but they forget that clever bastard tricked death himself, twice!

BonesOfTheMoon,

Hahahahahaha.

Sidhean, in Jay Hulme, "For a Short While".

People like to write about Icarus, But they forget that he did the thing he is known for, While writing that very thing down.

BonesOfTheMoon,

What a great line!

Aggravationstation, in Jay Hulme, 'Jesus at the Gay Bar'.

Lord, I wanna take you to a gay bar!
