@HailsandAles Queen I, II and Sheer Heart Attack are almost proto metal. Yeah there are some kinda weird songs on them too, but overall it's really good stuff. @jake4480

@derthomas@HailsandAles 😂 the Jaws and Star Wars references, it's just.. so Queen. And of course Fat Bottomed Girls, which is a sentiment I agree with. I suppose I need to check those 3 albums fully like you mentioned, I love Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas of Rhye and Now I'm Here, Stone Cold etc - not sure if I can do whole albums but if I can get all the way through em, I'm gonna try hahaha
@derthomas@HailsandAles I totally get it though, his voice, all of it I can see being divisive. Same with Zep. My best friend growing up hated Zep because of Plant's voice. That said, my favorite 2 Queen songs are Hammer to Fall and Tie Your Mother Down - the two most badass ones. hahaha

@jake4480@dinozombie I didn't like the first three too much when I was younger, now they are my favourites. Just because they are so heavy and so different compared to the stadium rock they did later.
@HailsandAles ha! People are super divided. My wife hates em. There are many songs I'm not into, but for me, when they're on, they're ON. I like probably like, 10 to 15 songs a lot. I'd never do a whole album. And I used to have a lot of the albums on vinyl haha

@jake4480@plaindocs@HailsandAles yeah this and We Will Rock You. I also don't like em, but up to date Champions is the best Arena song ever. Many tried to copy it (even Judas Priest) but they all failed.
Weird thing about Queen's "One Vision" since they never play it on the radio (despite the ton of Queen's other BIGGER hits they constantly play), the first way I heard this song was Laibach's epic cover of it that was on that Wax Trax VHS I had in the mid 90s. Love it.
@jake4480 I was lucky enough to see them live several times mid 90's (Kapital and N.A.T.O. tour). The live shows were bombastic, weird and avantgardistic. They've always sparked quite a controversy with their totalitarian references and over the top absurd Nazi and Socialism aesthetics and iconography.
@chris whoaa you saw em!! That is SO rad haha. LOVE the NATO stuff. Yeah, I love how they push that iconography but are clearly parodying it. Love how the whole NATO album is just covers about the horrors of military, war and a bleak future haha
@wendigo@chris rad. I think you'll really like that one, it's a pretty good starting point. Some killer covers, several you'll probably recognize, done in Laibach's excellent style haha

@derthomas ha! Yeah, me too. This one, and so many others.. Hammer to Fall is probably my favorite. Or Tie Your Mother Down. But this one is epic. They were just next level. When that first CHORD hits haha. And the riff. Gods among men. It's just wild to be able to live in a time on Earth that's kinda adjacent to this stuff.
@jake4480 my first music memory is probably One Vision. I was like 4 years old and my cousins would blast the whole album at full volume. Hammer to Fall and Tie Your Mother Down are Rock at it's finest.
I couldn't tell you my favourites... I love their early stuff a bit more I think. But then I listen to Innuendo and my eyes are watering because it is so beautiful... Yeah I am a fan.
