I love that they’re all just hanging out together.

Kolanaki,

I feel like the possum’s ability is the worst one as it’s the only one that doesn’t deal damage. It’s also not much of a buff.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Raccoon, definitely.

But the skunk is tempting.

LaserTurboShark69,

I wonder what the type advantage triangle would be here

RampageDon,

I think the order they are in: oppossium > skunk > raccoon > oppossium

HipsterTenZero,
@HipsterTenZero@dormi.zone avatar

I’ll go with the racoon. The pickup ability is a good source of extra items early on.

neuracnu,
@neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Skonx, I choose you!

lemmy_in,

Racoon is the chaotic energy choice

TTimo,

The skunk has some defensive abilities. The possum may give you an edge at stealth and misdirection.

JoShmoe,

Opossum true neutral, skunk chaotic lawful, and raccoon chaotic neutral.

Gullible,

I pick the dark type.

store.steampowered.com/…/Trash_of_the_Titans/

Add a badger and you have the character’s from Trash of the Titans, which is awesome if you haven’t checked out the demo.

Fredselfish,
@Fredselfish@lemmy.world avatar

Definitely opossum.

CheeryLBottom,

This seems like a lead-in to a joke…

An opossom, a skunk, and a raccoon walk into a bar…

skyin7,

…and the opossum orders some ticks… the end

Donut,

Apparently it’s not actually in their diet …wildlifeillinois.org/…/debunking-the-myth-opossu…

Limeey,

Always go with the opossum.

aviationeast,

I have chosen the skunk and declare you my rival. Let’s test out their strength in a battle. Pepe use poison gas…

Limeey,

You fool, opossums are strong against poison and entirely resistant to rabies!

danc4498,

How strong is a skunk against a very nasty hiss?

zakobjoa,
@zakobjoa@lemmy.world avatar

But I get to name you… poopface.

Snowpix,
@Snowpix@lemmy.ca avatar

Unfortunately there is a 7 character limit in most of the games, resulting in poopfac instead…

Death_Equity,

Raccoons have higher attack, speed, intelligence, and health stats. Opossums do have better defense, but lack stamina and rely on their slight luck advantage.

Raccoons are the superior starter, they are the Charmander of the options.

KoboldCoterie,
@KoboldCoterie@pawb.social avatar

So, the Raccoon will initially seem very good until the first gym where he gets 1-shot by Onyx? Oh. That doesn’t seem so good at all. I guess we should have chosen the Squirtle analogue.

BanjoShepard,

And the it still suffers greatly by the second gym, and the final evolution isn’t even a real dragon, so it gets absolutely wrecked by rocks, but I still never learned my lesson because it’s cool as hell.

KoboldCoterie,
@KoboldCoterie@pawb.social avatar

Fair enough. I might be sightly biased as well because when playing the originals, I had Blue while my best friend at the time had Red, we each chose the respective starters, and I’ve just stuck with that and taken the water starter in every game since, despite them often being a sub-optimal choice. That said, Mudkip is one of if not the strongest starter choice in any pokemon game, so it has served me well enough.

BakerBagel,

Bulbasaur absolutely mauls the first 4 gyms, and there are plenty of water pokemon available at all stages of the game which are capable of trashing your rivals Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard. The ice and fire types that are most effective against grass types are buried later in the game.

TootSweet,

Just keep moving around. I’ll get a missingno eventually.
