@gael @WeAreFairphone learned that … IN 2023?? Did they ever bother to take a look in or a listen to their own community forum before? 🤐

The experience is hard, and definitely something I wouldn't recommend doing all at once. It's best to slowly lean yourself off of apps and find app equivalents. The best place to find these is . Good luck everyone, and there's no shame in not going 100% degoogle. You've got to make sure your day-to-day bottom line is covered!

@mindful @WeAreFairphone /e/OS users actually do not find the deGoogled experience hard

@gael @mindful @WeAreFairphone yeah depends, I would also suggest choosing a ROM with first, this way you at least have push and stuff still working.

@rugk @mindful @WeAreFairphone /e/OS has microG integrated and enabled by default

@rugk @mindful @WeAreFairphone Been like this for the past 6 years.

@gael @rugk @WeAreFairphone yeah my original degoogle experience was moving to CalyxOS which also had microG. There's also finding app equivalents which is hard, especially when the Google ecosystem tries to lock you in so much. It's definitely a journey that takes a lot longer then a day! Hell, I'm 4 years in and still have a few google services that have been impossible for me to quit. Google Maps is a big one for me.

@mindful @gael @rugk @WeAreFairphone Google Maps were fairly easy to leave because we have Mapy.cz that has everything: business reviews, navigation, street view... But I understand that not every country is lucky to have such an equivalent.

I can confirm as owner of a FP4 (from Fairphone) and /e/OS manually installed. And the system experience is much more simple than my previous phone with coocked ROM.
