@divya@nwchapman FWIW, I independently looked at the Overdrive privacy policy and SFPL’s response looks pretty accurate to me. I asked @/longobord what concerned her, since she didn’t say in the post but didn’t hear back (although I expect her mentions are blowing up).
Overdrive explicitly states that “Your lending history is protected by OverDrive as confidential. It is not shared with any third parties, except to staff with appropriate authority acting within the scope of their duties for the administration of your institution (library, school, etc.)”
And while Overdrive could be violating their privacy policy, that’s inviting FTC and other regulatory action, including pretty big fines in California. I wouldn’t assume that’s happening without some indication that it’s going on.
