This is yet another insanely packed issue.
From the 132 pages in total, I have over 60 of them that I'd like to post! 😅
So I'll try to pick some great stuff and save the rest for another day.
First up is the preview for Final Fantasy 8 on PSone from GamesMaster 80 - April 1999 (UK)

I have it on Switch myself, but I have to be honest. It's quite low on my priority list when I look at all the other RPGs I haven't started yet...
Final Fantasy 7 was my first one if we don't count Mystic Quest on Super Nintendo.
But somehow I couldn't get into 8.
A friend had it and I tried playing it there, but it just wasn't my thing at the time.
The setting and characters really turned me off.
I had gotten really into importing Japanese Saturn games, so I played a ton of great RPGs like Langrisser, Grandia, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force, etc.
And was about import Xenogears, Lunar and Star Ocean 2 on PSone.
@OutofPrintArchive apparently that's a very common reaction for people who played FF7 first. Once they experienced FF7, FF8 feels like a disappointment that never measured up like grandma's cooking. I also love FF9. It is the most heart wrenching for me.
I love FF9, but I didn't get too far into it as there were just so many games to keep up with at that point.
And yet again, I felt the same when FFX came out.
It just didn't click with me.
I do want to go back to that one, one day though.
It's a bit sad as I feel that modern FF games just don't seem to be made for me.
Although I'm really looking forward to play 7 Remake and Rebirth once I finally get a PS5.
