This is truly one of the more baffling decisions I’ve seen in a long time. Tesla is a leader in charging infrastructure, to the degree that virtually every other carmaker is even adopting its standard.
Then Elon Musk laid off the entire Supercharger team.
@parismarx it's pretty weird when companies make cuts that directly undermine their stated business goals, especially ones they're actually succeeding at. As far as I can figure, it means one of two things:
the stated goals are disingenuous in some way;
or, leadership doesn't understand the operational requirements to achieve them.
In this case "cutting the entire departments" is so unambiguously destructive to stated goals that the latter isn't plausible.
@parismarx normally I would just enjoy what I've come to call "The Daily Elon L" but this one is really perplexing. He makes lots of own goals but usually not ones quite like this
@parismarx that's... wasn't that basically the only thing that they really were successful at?! Didn't they just make Supercharger the quasi-standard of charging stations?! what?!
