@ai6yr "I picked this up because it was awesome but then it didn't fit in my garage and my spouse got mad please buy it so I don't have to haul it away for scrap."
Thanks. The person I’m housesitting for has a big woodworking shop with lots of really old tools (lathe, planer, band saw, etc) and the knowledge to keep them running. I’ll have to show it to him when he returns Thursday. He might be interested.
Btw Ben, you would love these guys. Mark is a rocket engineer turned sculptor/sustainable woodworker and Jane is a musician. They’re both avid hikers, growers, and foragers, and beekeepers who make their own meads and wines with the fruits of their endeavors - often inventing their own tools to help. They’ve assisted SAR on numerous occasions, including on foot looking for the hiker from your pinned post.
@ai6yr@John if you’re interested in the SAR stuff, their most recent adventure where SAR came knocking and they helped rescue a bunch of 11 yo Boy Scouts is told at the 11 minute mark on that podcast
@ai6yr@John I’ll have to get more details when they get back, but when she told me the story before leaving I was left with the impression that it was more of a situational awareness issue - specifically weather awareness. The creeks rose fast and trapped them.
