I would like to wood burn some designs into a nightstand but may want to add more burning down the road, after I coat it with shellac. From what I could gather, people mentioned to only burn and then seal, otherwise the burning after the shellac could cause issues, like releasing inhalants. Is that really an issue with shellac...
1/4" piano wire point, random copper pipe ball peen hammered, candle wax buffed finish except for the rightmost one which is tung oil. Took one spindle turning project previously. Following Mike Peace’s video.
What’s a good basic table saw? I look at them online and can’t really tell much a difference. I’m tempted to just get a harbor freight one but know the fence will probably be loose and other annoyances…...
I’m sorry if this is not in the spirit of the community, but I figured my dad would know because of his experience woodworking, and I don’t want to ask him for obvious reasons. I’m happy to remove it if it doesn’t fit....
So I’ve been putting off upgrading the fence on my trusty Rigid 4512 for a few years....
Our bathroom has very little extra floor space so the scale has been leaning up against the wall....
My son is obsessed with Mario LEGO and had his own little table in the corner of the LEGO room. It was overflowing and my wife hated how messy it looked. While she was away for a few days I made this....
Cheap cherry slabs with black epoxy. The top is boring but I love the way the front turned out. Drawers are lined with red velvet and have black steel pulls.

I’ve recently built a fold out shelf, to dual purpose as a headboard, and I’d like to be able to secure it in the upright position (I think. I’d also consider the down position if it’s better somehow) for stability when moving. It’s in a camper trailer, so there doesn’t need to be any room for movement when it is...
Finished:...
A small table for our toddler to draw on and ruin 😊 Solid maple build with mortise & tenon aprons. The top was bookmatched from a piece of 8/4....
I found that simply reversing my featherboard makes it function very well as a thin ripping jig to make repeated (thin) cuts on the non-fence side of the blade. The featherboard’s hard side is simply set at the appropriate distance from the blade on the side opposite the fence. Then the fence is moved to support the larger...
Hey woodies,...
I made these stands for my kids. There was little room on each side of their bookshelf but I think they worked out....
I built a pedal board to use in my band (lake effect is in the band name); it’s basically a box with a slot to route power out of, and to the velcro’d down pedals on top....
Some light carving out of pine on a strike day. If the boss wont scratch my back, I guess I gotta do it my self. Finished with light touch of chestnut colour staining varnish....
I can’t tell if I’m sharpening incorrectly or if my file is just worn out. Is there a way to tell? I read somewhere to replace after like five sharpening a but that seems really short.
Hey WW community. Exactly as the title says - I am making some work tables for my kids. They’ll be used for homework, laptops, etc. And they’re kids, so one can guarantee a little bit of abuse....
Hi there! I’m confused with this one… I’ve got these plywood squares that I had to drill a bunch of holes in. Despite using a low speed on my drill and adding masking tape (below) there’s still pretty nasty tear out on nearly all holes. (EDIT: These are not through holes, this is for crochet square blocking boards. Metal...
The softwood kind of fuzzed out but otherwise everything turned out pretty good after a solid sanding. I used oak for the wood tiles, birch for the sheep and wheat, and ash for the ore with various stains for each
I know it’s pretty basic but doing the laminated top has really been kicking my butt. I chose to make it from pine as she repairs rugs and sometimes needs to nail them to her bench and this should be easy to nail into and pull the nails back out of. I’m going to apply some poly to the top and hopefully I can finally sign off...
