Okay, so I'm finding some deals on hosting and I think I am going the self-hosted route for a Wordpress site. It will give me access to so much more functionality with plugins that will make sharing my music online much easier and more fun for others. Plus, I can use the ActivityPub plugin to connect the site to the Fediverse.
Also, self-hosting will give me the ease of managing content via Wordpress while getting to dive into code and other technical things when I want.

I gotta say, after I created my label’s site (using wordpress.com), I realized that wordpress.org offers more control/customization/features… I didn’t know there were two different wordpress options at first 🤦♀️.. now I kind of wish I would have started with .org instead (but we’ll see how this goes)😅 … maybe something worth considering for anyone who’s thinking about self-hosting
@skysonix@6th_ez_pc@etherdiver@Sakti@socool Depending on the plan you have with Wordpress you can get a lot of the features of self-hosted like writing custom code and using plugins. But, you can also do a lot with a Wordpress.com site. I have seen some Wordpress hosting services offer a migration service for anyone wanting to move over to self-hosted as well.
@attksthdrknss@skysonix@6th_ez_pc@Sakti@socool I've got a hosted site with its own domain at etherdiver.com and I think I can do pretty much anything I want to/with it as long as I can figure out how to do it or afford to pay someone to figure it out and do it for me.
@etherdiver For sure! I will definitely post about my experience here getting it all set up and running. I feel like it will give me the balance I want of being able to share effectively while also having room to tinker with technical bits. Hopefully I'm right. 😀
